Hi Dawn, Recently got a listing from Chamber of Commerce which gives all churches, address, current pastor and phone number. Would you like to post it on your webpage, minus the pastors name since we don't have permission to print his/her name. Cindy
Can someone please give me the phone number and address to Chechero Baptist Church in Rabun, Ga. Thanks, Cindy

Hi list! I am searching for info on Margaret Elizabeth Lovelady, b. 8/29/1829 in GA, m. Dread Pelfrey in Rabun Co., GA 1/20/1850. Other Lovelady marriages in Rabun Co. include Solomon Lovelady to Margaret Whitthers 5/2/1829 and Thomas Lovelady to Elizabeth Oaks, 4/4/1825. Solomon and Thomas are both on the 1830 Rabun Co. Census Index as well as a David Lovelady. There are no Lovelady's on the 1840 Index. I wonder if someone has access to the 1830 census itself to see if any of those families had a year old daughter in the household. It has been said in my family that the Lovelady name is Cherokee, but this is unproven. Any help with this would be wonderful! Thanks! Khristy Sapp

Looking for information on SAMUEL FOSTER, who is supposed to have died in Rabun County in the late 1820s. Might have been from SC. Wife's name might have been Barbary. Don Tucker Dothan, Alabama
Orders are now being taken for the January 2000 revision of the Old Pendleton (District SC) Database CD. This cd now contains almost 230,000 names of persons who lived in the Old Pendleton District of SC (present-day Oconee, Pickens, Anderson counties), their ancestors and descendents. Full details may be seen at http://www.shelby.net/jr/olpend/ A map of the OPD in relation to nearby NC, SC and GA counties may be seen at http://www.shelby.net/jr/olpend/opd.jpg The cd was reviewed in a recent issue of Eastman's Genealogy Newsletter here http://www.ancestry.com/columns/eastman/eastoct19-99.htm Currently for FTM users, the cd is the *only* way the data can be accessed (except using WinNT) since FTM cannot import a gedcom of this size in Win95/98. Databases are included for 5.0, 6.0a and 7.0. Databases are also provided for BK, FOW, and PAF as well as in gedcom format. Advance approval of this project was given by Rootsweb. A portion of the modest price of the cd goes to Rootsweb and to the OPDC/SCGS.

ORDER BLANK IS provided there for your convenience. If you have questions please e-mail me. I am currently at work on JACKSON CO. which will be Volume VII of the series. Karen T. Ledford/Toccoa, Ga. New to the Rabun Co., GAGenWeb site: We've added several links under local and historical points of interest: The City of Dillard Foxfire Magazine The Hambidge Center Rabun Gap Nacoochee School Also new to the site is a GenConnect board for Obituaries. Feel free to add obits, as long as the person was somehow linked to Rabun County. Be sure to include the name, date and page number of the newspaper where the obituary was originally located. You can access the board from the main page or from this link: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ga/RabunObits On the Civil War site, many thanks to Marian Miller for information on the Wall family. Dear Researchers of Rabun Co./Macon Co., N.C. I believe you will be interested in my book which was published this year on RABUN County, Ga. called THESE MEN WORE GREY. Webpages: "http://www.hartcom.net/~scv935/grey" Not only does this Book give you every identifiable Grave of all the Confederate Soldiers and their wives buried in this county by cemetery, but gives a genealogical profile of each man, such as his wife's maiden name, marriage date, his parents, siblings, and his parents marriage date. Census records are also included for each family. The book also gives complete muster rolls of the county PLUS all the muster rolls of the N.C. and S.C. units in which men from Rabun Co. served. These include: Co. E, 24th Ga. Regt., Inf., Co. F, 52nd Ga. Regt., Inf. both out of Rabun Co., Co. F, 11th Ga. CAVALRY out of Rabun Co. Rosters of N.C.: Co. D, 62nd North Carolina Regt., Inf.: Co. G, 25th N.C. Regt., INf. Co. I 39th N.C. Regt., Inf., Co. B 39th N.C. Regt., Inf.: Co. C, 65th N.C. Regt., Inf., Co. G, 65th N.C. Regt., Inf.: Co. A, 65th N.C. Regt., Inf. Rosters from S.C.: Co. H 1st S.C. Heavy ARTILLERY and Co. K 1st S.C. Heavy Artillery. All these companies contain Rabun and Macon Co. Men. I also included their rank, unit and if died or killed during the war. I have the COMPLETE PENSION records from the courthouse of all the veterans, and widows who drew pensions. These records run from 1890 thur 1919 and also list the men who witnessed the pensions and all the information contained in the ledgers in the courthouse. Also there is included a list of the FIRST pensioners of the county in 1888 who were AMPUTEES. The Complete SALT Records for 1862, 1863 and 1864 and the Complete MILITIA records for the county. If you are doing Confederate Research or genealogical research on your ancestors in the Rabun/Macon Co. area this book will certainly be a great addition to your library. I personally canvassed ALL the cemeteries on foot and have spent many years doing research for this book. Also in publication in this series are books on the following counties: Franklin Co., Ga. Volume I Habersham Co., Ga. Volume II Stephens Co., Ga. Volume III Rabun Co., Ga. Volume IV White Co., Ga. Volume V Banks Co., Ga. Each book is completely REFERENCED with Bibilography included. Sincerely, Karen T. Ledford/Toccoa, GA. Author

At last! The "Rabun County in the Civil War" site is finished and ready for viewing: http://www.rootsweb.com/~garabun/civilwar/ Please feel free to contribute information about your Civil War ancestor to this project. The only names we have indexed right now are from the 2 companies that mustered into service in Rabun Co., but there were many soldiers that were Rabun Co. natives who enlisted elsewhere or who served elsewhere but later lived in Rabun Co. Information is welcome on any soldier who lived in Rabun Co., but they MUST have lived in Rabun Co. at some point. Also new to the Rabun Co. GenWeb site is a page dedicated to the American Revolutionary War: http://www.rootsweb.com/~garabun/revwar/ Same rules here as for the Civil War site...the soldier MUST have lived in Rabun Co. at some point in order to be included here. Thanks to all of you for your patience while we were working on these sites! Dawn W. Cabe CC/Rabun Co., GAGenWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/~garabun/
