    1. Charles CANTRELL family 1750-1835
    2. snead
    3. I am looking for any information available on the children of Charles Cantrell and Millie Lillard. Charles was born about 1750 and died 10/1835 in Rabun Co. I have been told that the executor of his estate was William A. Taylor, husband of one of Charles's daughters, Nancy. In the will, I have been told, there were 16 children listed, born to Charles, and I have been trying to learn the names of the other children. From Cantrell records, Charles was married at least twice, Sarah Murray and Millie Lillard. I believe children of Sarah included James, William, Martha and Charles, Jr. Children of Millie included Nancy and Rebecca Ann. Nancy and William A. Taylor are my husband's 3d great grandparents and I am looking for names of other siblings and spouses. I plan to go up to Rabun Co., sometime soon, and would like to know who to be looking for in court records before I head up there. If anyone on the list connects with the Cantrell family, I would enjoy hearing back. Thanks for any information anyone can offer. Holly Snead snead@qwestinternet.net

    1. A DIFFERENT KIND OF GENEALOGY LIST!
    2. A new and different kind of E-mail list has just been formed, a complete new concept, it will to be an open, interactive list, with all members participating freely, and sharing everything. It is a private E-mail list, certain common sense rules will apply. We expect that the NorthEastCoGenList will quickly be a large and active group of genealogists researching all families of North East, GA. The counties we are most interested in will be Fannin, Gilmer, Habersham, Hall, Rabun, Towns, and White Co., we will cover others if there is an interest. I hope our unique approach to e-mail list communication will create a warm, friendly, nurturing atmosphere for both newcomers and seasoned pros. We will strive to be a group of very active participants and not mere observers and welcome you to our group with one important requirement for membership. To apply for membership, contact me, WyleneL@aol.com

    1. York and other families
    2. Dawn, The name you are trying to decipher on lines 24 and 30 of page 328a, and on line 6 of page 328b of the 1850 census appears to be Marium. The wife of Semore York was Miriam Beck and the ages match other records for the couple. I have a printout of the 1850 census and can see the problem with the names. The first letter of all three names in question is not clear. However, Miriam York, widow, age 81, appears on the 1860 census of Rabun Co. And, the 19-year old daughter of John and Malinda York was enumerated as Meriam that year. The Jones family is not on the 1860 census printout that I have. Hope this helps, Marian Miller

    1. York and other families
    2. While transcribing and formatting the 1850 census of Rabun Co., GA, I ran across a problem with a name common to the York family. The name was apparently shared by a daughter of John and Malinda York, the wife of Simon York, and a daughter of James and Nancy Jones. These families are all enumerated on page 328 of the census: http://www.rootsweb.com/~garabun/census/1850/328.html The particular people who share this name are listed on lines 24 and 30 of page 328a, and on line 6 of page 328b. If anyone knows what this name is supposed to be, would you please e-mail me via this list? My thanks, Dawn Watson CC/Rabun Co., GAGenWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/~garabun/
