    2. Walter Yarbrough
    3. Hello, I'm trying to find out where Alfred Dockins moved to Rabun Co from. All I know is that he was from NC and was born in 1800 and was still alive at the time of the 1880 Rabun census. The Rabun County Courthouse won't give me land rec info over telphone. Any ideas how to link him to North Carolina? Thanks, Walter

    1. Historical Society's picture book
    2. Marian: I don't have the exact details, but the Historical Society is planning a book of photos related to Rabun County. They're looking for "place" pictures (such as historical buildings, etc.) as well as family pictures, or basically just any photo that gives a glimpse into Rabun County's history and past. Cuba and Archie McKay are heading the project up. If you take your pictures by the Historical Society during their normal operating hours (Wednesdays from 1 to 4), they'll scan them and give the pictures back to you. Alternatively, you can mail copies of your pictures to them. Rabun County Historical Society P. O. Box 921 Clayton, GA 30525 That's about all I can tell you. Perhaps someone else has more information...? Dawn Watson

    1. RE: Frady and Dixon
    2. Yes. I am researching those families for a friend of mine, who is descended from this couple through their daughter Greta who married Levosher Kilby. This is what I have right now: Marler's parents were Daniel Frady and Mary Smith. I don't have anything further on Daniel's family, nor do I have Mary's father. Her mother was Lodusky Teem(s), the daughter of Daniel and Susan (Benfield???) Teem. Cora's parents were Monroe Dixon and Margaret Owensby. I don't have anything more on Margaret's family. Monroe's parents were George W. Dixon and Lucinda P. Malinda Trusty. George's mother's name was Barbara. This group of Dixon's jumped back and forth between Rabun Co., GA and Macon Co., NC. Pitifully little, but there ya go. Sincerely, Dawn Watson http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Ridge/3398/ RE: I am new to the list and the surname I am researching in this area is FRADY. Looking for any information on Marlar Frady m. Cora Dixon Anybody out there researching these names. Thanks, Shelley Carter-Frady

    1. Marriage records
    2. Several changes have been made to the first marriage book for Rabun Co., GA, which contains marriage records from 1820 to 1850. These corrections come thanks to the input of our online researchers. Thanks to all of you for your help in making these records as accurate as possible. The marriage records for Rabun Co., GA that are in the Archives may be accessed at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ga/rabun/marriage.html Regular visitors to the online Archives will notice a change in the format, brought about by the large size of data that researchers have contributed to be placed online. Don't worry...everything's still in the same place; the only change that was made was to break the table of contents for the Archives into smaller, more manageable sections. Also, just to let you know, I'm about half-way through proofreading the next marriage book for the county, which will take us through 1884. Thanks once again to everyone who e-mailed me with corrections to the first marriage book. As always, should you see what you feel is an error in any records that I've placed online, please do not hesitate to let me know. Sincerely, Dawn Watson CC/Rabun Co., GAGenWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/~garabun/

    1. hi to all
    2. I am in the process of moving from beautiful Rabun County to the southern part of Alabama. My husband is home from Korea and will be stationed there for the next 2 years. I'll also not be working full time (maybe part time later, but that's a few weeks down the road), so I'll have time to get back with everyone who's e-mailed me in the past 6 months or so. I also have a lot of records that I'll be putting online after we move, including records from Western NC and Upper SC. By the way, I have all but the last 7 pages of the 1850 census of Rabun County typed and ready to format to put online (I've been typing them up at work during my downtime). Hope to have it completely online by the end of September. I apologize to all of you who have had to wait for a response to your inquiries. We should be all moved in by Labor Day, or there 'bout, so if you're impatient, feel free to re-e-mail me after that date. Sincerely, Dawn Watson CC/Rabun Co., GAGenWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/~garabun/ http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Ridge/3398/
