    1. Re: [GARABUN] HOLLOWAYs in Rabun Co. GA
    2. I opened this e-mail because it said "Holloway" in the subject line but it was actually about Becks - so I'm sure I missed the first part of the communication. However, I'm responding anyway because I am descended from Britter Holloway and am wondering if you have any information on her parents. I haven't been able to find much. Anything you might have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Frances Ivester Simonian

Sarah's first child may have been born in this household during this census year. Does anyone know Elizabeth BECK's maiden name? Sarah Ann's maiden name was MATHIS, maybe that will help. 2. Looking for the father and siblings of John HOLLOWAY [HALLOWAY], my ggggrandfather. Family accounts indicate that John HOLLOWAY was born in north Georgia, specifically in Rabun County GA in 1800, and that his father was probably Solomon, b. abt 1775 NC (?). Because Rabun County was not formed until 1819, there may be another county(ies) involved. Where do I need to look? 3. Diane - I too descend from the Beck's... The information that I have indicates that the Beck's that settled in GA originally came from Western NC. I have a lot of records of the Beck's there in the 1700's... There are still many there in Swain Co (Bryson City, Cherokee and the Reservation, etc.) in NC. The Beck's were part of the old Church that still stands in the Cherokee National Forest... The area is called 'Smokemont'... I'd love to sync up and share details with you... Perhaps I can help you, or vice versus... You can contact me directly as our conversation will go off topic of this list. I try to keep the books affordable too. Printing costs...well they are enormous. I feel sure you will like the book and find much valuable info in it. Karen and thanks again so much for your confidence. ----- Original Message ----- From: <MOSSBETTY5@aol.com> To: <GARABUN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, October 27, 2004 12:18 PM Subject: Re: [GARABUN] Webpage of Interest to N.E. When I started transcribing this census, I indexed each page as I put it online. That index was lost when my hard drive crashed; my computer has not been the same since, and refuses to read the CD I had used to back-up all my files. So, I'm having to re-index this census. Between now and then, please use the search engine at http://www.usgennet.org/usa/region/southeast/garabun/1860/1860.html or the surname indexes for each district that I've sent to the mailing list. Good luck with your research. Sincerely, Dawn Watson http://www.usgennet.org/usa/region/southeast/ http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Ridge/3398/
