I'm not certain, but I think that this was actually Pumpkin VINE. It appears that the census taker made a mistake. Again, I'm not 100% postitive, but this area was originally in Paulding County. I have ancestors I thought moved around alot - it seems it was actually the county boundaries! Mel, our Ezells and my Garners were in this area and the men served in the 20th Ga Volunteers, Company D, Polk County Rangers. I'm still searching for my very elusive connection to your Ezell line through my Nancy who married James Garner. I am also still searching for the parents of Nancy (popular name!) Peak who married Joel Brewer. Joel was the Polk County Ordinary for approximately 30 years until his death in 1898. Nancy died in 1870, most likely in childbirth. She is buried with Joel's second wife, Joel and their children at Bethlehem Baptist Church at Fish Creek. Joel donated part of the land for the church. If anyone has access to any church records, I'd love to know. Carole > > >Anyone have a idea where the Pumpkin Pile Post Office was located? I am searching for Cresey McGuire in the 1880 census of Polk County in Pumpkinpile. Pumpkinvine post office in Paulding was closed in 1866. There is a Pumpkinpile Creek off Polk County Road 437. One more interesting thing--Pumpkinpile was a surname the Cherokees used when trying to translate their language into English.
I know there is a Pumpkin Vine creek out there. Check out http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnis/web_query.gnis_web_query_form and you might be able to locate it.
