Mary, The Polk County Cemetery Preservation Committee is compiling a new Polk County Cemetery Book and we hope to have it ready to sell some time next year. We have already found several cemeteries that have not been listed in any previous book or online. As of today, June 24, 2005, we have about 70 cemeteries surveyed out of the more than 105. We still have the larger ones to survey - Greenwood, North View, Polk Memory Gardens and Rose Hill. A list of the cemeteries can be found at http://www.usgennet.org/usa/ga/county/polk/Cemeteries.html Many of the obituaries on line on the Polk County, GA GenWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/~gapolk/ and at Polk County, GA AHGP http://www.usgennet.org/usa/ga/county/polk/ The Cedartown Library has the older copies of the Newspapers on Microfilm. Don't know how soon I will be able to get to the library, but if no one else has volunteered, I will be happy to do a look-up for you. Just write me offline at elantr@earthlink.net I also have a copy of the Haralson County, GA Cemetery Book and a copy of the Polk County, GA Funeral Home Records 1944 to 1949 from Biasner & Lee Borders Funeral Homes. Will be glad to go limited look-ups in them.
