I would like to do some research in Polk County, GA. My maternal Grandfather Alfred Mathew Smith was born 28 July 1857 @ Cedartown, POLK CO. GA. His family was originally from Franklin, Hall, and Jackson Counties GA. He must have been born along the way in a wagon journey from there to Fayette County, AL where he married and raised a family. I have a picture of him that Id like to get scanned and maybe put on the Web Site. I do not know how long my Smiths were in Cedartown, but they are on the 1860 Federal census for Fayette County, AL Do you have any suggestions for my research? Thank You very much, Eddy A.
