Patsy, To the best of my knowledge, the only information is what was transcribed. The marriage applications did not start until the 1930s, so all you get is names and marriage date. You can look at Book A at the courthouse. They are very accomodating at the courthouse in Cedartown. Hi I wish for Patricia Millican to get in touch with me about her book on marriages in Polk Co. Kathy Gregory Secretary Paulding County Genealogical Society
I had an email from Christine today and she was very upset because when she started actually delving into the reels that were available to her, the shelves read incorrectly. The only reels that she has available to do lookups from are from June of 1968 to December 31, 1899 then it picks up with Jan 1, 1976 to present. So anything between Jan 1900-1976 is not available She was feeling really badly about this, but this was not her fault and she should not feel badly about an error that was not her own. So our apologies to those of you that fall into the unavailable years. I am sure you will hear from Christine in re to these requests. Thanks. Brenda
OBITUARY LOOK UPS AVAILABLE FROM THE ATLANTA JOURNAL CONSTITUTION FROM June 17, 1868 to present. A very wonderful person has offered to do look-ups for us, her name is Christine Spencer. Her offer to help us is greatly appreciated by me, and I am sure you will feel the same way. Please bear in mind she does this in her "spare time", and simply can't do total months/yearly lookups. RULES FOR THE LOOKUPS: 1) You must know the date of death or date of the obituary - she can check the day after the death, but can't look through months/years for obits, she does not have the time for that. So PLEASE don't abuse this resource by asking for more than what is stipulated above. 2) Please email the requests to me [email protected] with this subject in the subject line - REQUEST OBIT LOOKUP FROM AJC SERVICE - I will forward these to Christine.
Hello everyone - Kathy Gregory has once again done a fabulous job with the Census - she has transcribed the 1920 DALLAS DISTRICT for Paulding County, Georgia. You can view the Adobe PDF file online at http://www.rootsweb.com/~gapauldi/dallasdistrict.pdf If you don't have adobe, it is a free download at www.adobe.com - the good thing about using a pdf file is that you can in the bottom of your screen set your size to 2-1600% so those of you that have a hard time reading small print can set this so you can see it at the size that is good for you. You can also skip pages by clicking on the page buttons at the bottom of the page. May many of you find your ancestors, and don't forget to say a really big thank you to Kathy. She has worked so hard on these census' and she deserves a big round of applause and lots of thank you's for this wonderful tool. Thanks, Brenda Pierce

Hello, I was very pleased to find this site. I am on a quest to find out more about my ancestors. I recently found out that my great-grandparents George W. Wade and Lorina Vaught obtained a marriage license in Cedartown , Ga. Polk Cty. on Aug. 25, 1881. I would like to know if you make copies of the original license or did they do that back in 1881? If so, what would the charge be? I am also trying to figure out the best way to find out where they might have died. I was told they also lived in Rome,Ga. sometime after they were married but I can't be sure. Any suggestions would be most appreciated as to where else I should look. Anyway, please let me know I can obtain a copy of their marriage certificate. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Susan Dorman <mailto:[email protected]>[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>.net

I though that this might be of interest to some researcher in Polk County. In reviewing "Polk Co., GA Index to Delayed Birth, Birth & Death Certificates - Book A," I noticed a naming that is unusual for this time period. On October 25, 1931, a daughter was born to Oscar Adkins and E. Y. Person. The daughter was named Annie May Adkinson. Clarence
Does anyone on the list know of a James Elmer Hosey Mull, Jr., born in Polk Co., on June 17, 1927, to James and Alice B. Sutters Mull? Clarence Atkins
