    1. [GAPOLK] From List Manager - Thanks Wyndell
    2. Doris Robbins
    3. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Wyndell Taylor for his unselfish dedication to genealogy. He has worked many long hours maintaining web sites, mailing lists and transcribing records. He is a true Genealogical Gentleman. Thanks Wyndell....... About the New List Manager: I have several web sites that I maintain and have some previous mailing list experience. (But that was under the old system.) The list will not see any major changes, it will continue with the "guidelines" that Wyndell started. I do not foresee any problems, but if anyone has a problem, please write to me off-list and we will try to work out a solution. Just remember the basic rule: Treat others like you would want them to treat you. Do not post virus warnings, chain letters, political announcements, current events, current religious or political issues. No items for sale. Genealogical & Historical Society "news" & events will be considered, but please write to me before posting. Thanks to everyone for your patients while we learn the new system. Happy Searching!!!!! Doris Robbins List Manager

    2. Wyndell Taylor
    3. With this message, I turn the control of the Polk County Mailing List over to Doris Robbins. She will make a great administrator for the list. I am having to cut back on some of my activities, and feel some new blood is needed in the mailing list. Thanks to each of you who have made this list a success. Wyndell Taylor Former List Manager

    1. Cemetery Surveys Online
    2. Doris Robbins
    3. The Polk County Cemetery Preservation Committee is releasing the Cemetery surveys that the volunteers have been working on for the past couple of years. Most of the surveys have additional information and some have photos of the tombstones and links to the obits. The plan it to have photos of all the tombstones and links to the obits, if available. We have about 20 of the surveys online at http://www.usgennet.org/usa/ga/county/polk/Cemeteries.html We will be adding more each day, so if "your cemetery" is not posted yet, just keep checking back. We will get them online as soon as possible. We also need more volunteers to help with the project. Some of the cemeteries still need to be surveyed and others need to be photographed. We also need volunteers to transcribe the obits. If you would like to volunteer, please e-mail The PCCPC at pccpc@earthlink.net We can use all the help we can get. Doris
