Mrs. Couch was born on March 7, 1916, to one of the pioneering families of the Floyd County. She and her husband donated the land for Cedar Valley Baptist Church and both were charter members. They operated a vegetable stand for several years after their retirement. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charley Caldwell Couch; her parents, Samuel Jeremiah Riordan and Ora Gertrude Mauney Riordan; sons, Charles Caldwell Couch, Jr., Lidelle Jake Dewood Couch and Ronald Neal Couch; sisters, Margarette Riordan, Ruth Gray and June Steed; brothers, Jerry, Rex, Ned Sam, Jr., Dan and Rodney Riordan. Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Standeford of Cedartown; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The funeral service was held Friday, Jan. 3, 2003 in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home. Rev. Elgin Williams officiated, and interment followed in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. He was a 28-year employee of the Engineering Fabrics Corporation of Rockmart, and was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church of Albertville, AL. Survivors include: wife, Mattie Ruth Corley Cook, to whom he was married Sept. 10, 1955; three sons, Clifford Cook, Steve Cook and Timothy Cook, all of Rockmart; father, Rev. Raymond Cook, Sr. of Albertville, AL; brother, Raymond Cook, Jr. of Roswell; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
