Mrs. Elrod was born Aug. 22, 1930 in Rockmart, daughter of the late Henry Linton and Mattie Lou Godwin Williamson. She was a member of the Rockmart First United Methodist Church, a former Carltons Department Store employee, and a retired Casual Shop employee. She was preceded in death by husband, James Bert Elrod. Surviving are daughter, Melinda Harrison, Rockmart; sons, Andy Elrod and Jamie Elrod, both of Rockmart; brother, Hugh Wil-liamson, Texas; sister, LuNeal Hailey, California; four grandsons. The funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003 at the Rockmart First United Methodist Church with Rev. Carol Cook and Rev. David Autry officiating. Jule Peek Ave, Cedartown, passed away Monday, August 4, 2003. She was born September 4, 1911 in Tuskegee, Ala., to the late Albert and Elizabeth Garmon Howell. She was also one of the oldest living members of Southside Baptist Church, where she was a member of the senior adult ladies Sunday school class and a Red Cross volunteer for a number of years. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Alvie Earl Powell and James Hoyt Edgens; daughters, Evelyn Earl Dean Hudson and Betty Ann Powell; brothers, Loyd and Monroe Howell; sister, Flora Forrist, and son-in-law, Amos Henry Hudson. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, William and Jackie Powell. A number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great- grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, August 6, at 11 a.m. from Southside Baptist Church with Dr. Rodger Whorton and Rev. J.C. Robinson officiating. Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Jim Powell and Martha Sevilla Gore Dooley; brother, Herbert Dooley; sisters, Myrtle Manning and Bertha Rae Neville. She was born July 25, 1916 in Carroll County. She retired from the hosiery mill after having worked there for 43 years. She was preceded in death by: parents, John H. Powell, Sr. and Lois Irene Payne Powell; husband, Earl E. Dial; son, Donald N. Dial and two sisters. Surviving are: daughter, Glenda Sue Miller of Bowden; sons, Rev. Charles E. Dial of Lula, William Ray of Temple and Jerry Wayne Dial of Panama City, FL; sister Peggy Carpenter of Nixon, TN; brothers, John Howard of Calhoun and James Ray of Lindale; 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 19 in the Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Roger Luke officiating. Interment followed in the Star of Bethlehem cemetery. The Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Villa Rica, was in charge of the arrangements. She was born Sept. 19, 1913 in Polk County and was a member of Little Cedar United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Bessie Dempsey. Survivors include a brother, Dub Dempsey of Cedartown, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Monday, March 10 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Litesey Funeral Home with Rev. Van Dempsey and Rev. Wayne Rice officiating. Interment followed in the Sanders Cemetery. Mr. Deaton was born February 3, 1941, in Rome, GA. He was a Norfork Southern Railroad Conductor with thirty years service and a member of Aragon Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace J. and Sylvia Aiken Deaton. Survivors include wife, Patsy Brumbelow Deaton of Aragon; son, Lee Deaton of Aragon; daughter, Penny Deaton of Saint Robert, MS; brothers, Earl Deaton of Aragon and Charles Deaton of Calhoun; and four grandsons. The funeral service was held Monday, Dec, 23 at 4 p.m. at Aragon Baptist Church. Rev. Stan Pittman and Rev. Gary Parris officiated, and interment followed in Aragon Cemetery.
