He was born in Polk County on August 10, 1914, and lived here his entire life. He was the son of the late Starling and Sallie Mae Howard Lyon. He was also an active church worker, serving in various capacities of the church for many years, and was retired from Diamond Shamrock Chemical Corp. after more than 34 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Gladys McCoy. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Elizabeth Holbrooks Lyon, to whom he was married to on June 24, 1951. Several other extended relatives also survive. Graveside services were conducted Friday, June 13, at 2 p.m. in Polk Memory Gardens with Rev. Royce Campbell and Rev. Asa Mangham officiating. Pallbearers were Randy Holbrooks, Aaron Holbrooks, John W. Holbrooks III, Herman Wood Jr., Shawn Mobbs, and Jerry McCoy. Mr. Lyle was born May 26, 1931 in Polk County, a son of the late James Cresful Lyle and Susie Pearl Drew Lyle. He Lyle returned to Rockmart 11 years ago from Cobb County where he had made his home for 35 years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the Rockmart Church of Christ. He retired due to ill health from American General Life Insurance Company. He was preceded in death by parents; step father, Curtis Elrod; sister, Barbara Pace. Surviving are wife, Mrs. Shirley Woods Lyle, Rockmart to whom he was married on January 1, 1954; daughters, Mrs. Terri Jones and Mrs. Duanaree Johnson, both of Powder Springs; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. The funeral service was conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, 2003 in the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home chapel with Ministers Alvis Miller, Mansell Carpenter and Craig Hallman officiating. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Lott; daughter, Jackie Lott McElwee; parents, Seward and Mollie Wilkerson Holland; brothers, J.S. Holland Jr. and Charles W. Holland. Surviving are: daughter, Nancy Sorrells; son, Wayne H. Lott, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was born March 30, 1922 in Cedartown where she had resided most of her life. She received her business degree from Gadsden State Business College, Gadsden, Al. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Cedartown where she was a member of the Womens Bible Sunday School Class. She taught Sunday School Youth II and College/Career girls in her earlier years. She was retired from Diamond- Shamrock Nopco Chemical Division of Cedartown and later was employed at Burgess Insurance Services and Reece Barrett Used Cars. Mrs. Logan received Special Presidential Recognition in 1997 for her service during World War II on the Cedartown Draft Board. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alberta Hackney Queen and Adolphus Queen; her husband, Haywood Jackson Logan; brother, Frank Pershing Queen; half-brother, Willie Welch Queen; sisters, Margaret Louise Queen Bradfield, Evelyn Jo Queen Langford and Lillian Floriede Queen Blechinger. She is survived by her daughter, Hannah Logan Smithson Chambley of Rome, her step-grandson, Phillip W. Chambley, Jr., of Silver Creek. Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive. Memorial services were held Saturday at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home of Cedartown with Dr. David Taylor and Rev. Wayne Benefield officiating. He was a former Master Dyer and Chemist and was a former deputy on Alpha Shift at the Anderson County Sheriffs Office. Survivors include: his wife, Beverly Raiford Lockridge of the home; son, Tommy Lockridge of Anderson; daughters, Cathi Lynn Weider of Portage, Wis., Kymberley Peri Hopper of the home; parents, Perry Wilson Lockridge, Sr. and Myrtle Louise Williams Lockridge of Cedartown; brother, Preston Lee Lockridge of Cedartown; sister, Rita Faye McCain of Marietta; and five grandchildren. A native of Floyd County, she was born Oct. 19, 1983. She attended Cedartown High School and Coosa Valley Technical College. She was an employee of Papa Johns Pizza in Cedartown. Survivors include her parents, Thomas R. and Shelia Taylor Lincoln; sisters, Michelle Lincoln of Marietta and Laura Lincoln of LaFayette; grandmother, Laura Jean Siburg of Grants Pass, Ore; great-grandmother, Opal Lincoln of Fallbrook, Calif. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 18 at 1 p.m. at the chapel of John Houses Cave Spring Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Tal Roberts officiating. LeFever; daughters, Patricia Cooper of Butler, Penn., Jill Crawford of Cabot, Penn, Kandy Kriebel of Karns City, Penn. and Levonne Leuenberger of Roswell; brothers, Robert and Albert hall, both of Tartentum, Penn.; and sister, Claudia Harvey of Sarver, Penn. Eleven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 6, at 11 a.m., from Thompson-Miller Funeral Home with Pastor John Kuert officiating. She was preceded in death by parents; brother, Owen Burell; sisters, Velma Burell and Louise Shepard. Surviving are husband, Gerald Lee, Cedartown, to whom she was married on July 28, 1961; sister, Ms. Peggy Burell, Rockmart; number of nieces and nephews.
