    3. My name is Diane Pinion. I have been researching several families that are connected to mine. Namely HOBBS, CALDWELL, PHILLIPS and several others that connect to these. Joseph Hobbs came from Greene County, Georgia and settled in Polk, Haralson and Paulding Co. I have a couple of areas in his family that are really messy and need cleaning up. He had a large family and there might be another Hobbs family that is either his or connected to my Hobbs line. He is a gr gr gr uncle to me. I ended up researching all of his siblings to find where the heck his brother went to and meeting a lot of great people on here over the years, because of some of these connections I found my Robert Hobbs Jr. Anyway since I have looked at the migration of all the siblings I want to finish getting them straightened out. Like I said I have a couple of areas that are messy and maybe some one on here can assist in getting me straight or finding the right answers. Diane Pinion dcpinion@comcast.net

    1. [GAPOLK] BOLAND, WOZENCRAFT, STAFFORD
    2. I joined this list in hopes of finding info on my ancestor, WILLIAM SCOTT BOLAND's family. He was born in Rockmart, Georgia in 1849 to DANIEL BOLAND and MARY MARTHA STAFFORD who were born in S.C. Would like to know more about them. William lived in this area for much of his life, but I can't seem to find a lot about him during this time. He married SARAH IDA WOZENCRAFT in 1867, and they continued to reside in Polk County many years because the 1880 census has them living there with six of their children. In 1884 they had moved on to Albertville (Marshall) AL and lived there until they moved on to Shawnee, OK where both William and Sarah died. I have a lot of info on this family which I am willing to share, but there is still a lot I would like to know. If anyone is researching this family or is willing to look up info for me, please let me know.

    1. Re: [GAPOLK] "Who am I and why I joined the Polk County Mailing List?"
    2. My ancestors in the area now called Polk County included Chivers Brooks who died there circa 1848. His wife was Susan Elliott, their children were Alexander, Robert, Chivers and an unknown daughter. They apparently migrated from Morgan County, GA to Polk County. Alexander, their eldest son, first married Louisa Pollard on 14 Jan 1849. Their children are Cinthy, Frances and John C. Louisa apparently died as Alexander and two his children were living with his mother Susan in the 1860 census. Alexander married Anzora Walthall 8 Sep 1861. Alexander enlisted in 1861 as a private in the CSA 1st Calvary in Rome, Ga and was discharged in 1865 as Captain A. R. Brooks as shown on Anzora's application for a widows pension. Together they sired six or more children The early histories of the area mention other surnames of my ancestors: Thomas William Moses Brown was a minister in a Baptist church in Haralson County before he and his family moved to Cedartown. His daughter, Fannie Brown married Alex Brooks son of Alexander Brooks mentioned above. Their children are Vivian, William, John "Bill" (formerly city manager of Cedartown and their youngest, Charles. To my knowledge, I am the only survivor of the family. Bill's widow, Antoinette Lloyd Brooks lives on Jules Peek Ave in Cedartown. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who can add more information about my ancestors. Charles F. 3. I don't know if Edward is in my line or not. The only 2 Nolen's I have in my database are David and Cora. Of my 8 great-grandparent lines, this is the one I have the least information on. I found David and Cora in the 1900 census in the Cedartown district. Cora has some siblings in the census record, I just haven't entered them yet. There is another Nolen family on the same page (Joseph?). Thanks, Craig "wla@execpc.com" <wla@execpc.com> wrote: Craig Alexander wrote: >I am Craig Alexander, and I live near Augusta, Georgia. 1. Re: [GAPOLK] "Who am I and why I joined the Polk County Mailing List?"
    2. Hi, I am a 1961 gradute of Cedartown High School. For the past several years I have been able to trace my ancestors to Rev. Elias A. Camp, see obit in Cedartown Standard Oct 1901. It claims he is the son of James Camp b. 1740 in Rutherford, County, Nc and died in the 1820's In Gwinette, Co. Georgia after siring at a very old age Elias who moved to Paulding County then to Polk County and was a Pastor at Bethlehem Baptist Church. His son Columbus is my gg grandfather confirmed by the 1910 and 1920 census. His son Columbus Davenport Camp was my grandfather whom i vaguely remember who owned a sawmill in Relay on the polk/floyd county line. I noted this connection in a recent post but with no replys. I left Cedartown after graduation and am now a retired broadcast journalist living in Colorado. With the exception of the questionable James Camp, I have mostly completed my Polk County Connections with the exception of 4 Harris Children listed as nieces and nephews living with my grand father in the 1910 Census and a Lizzie Valentine (probably nee Harris) in the 1920 census. and a great nephew Valentine also living there. It seems that a daugher, unknown, of Columbus Camp married this Harris and then died leaving the children with my grandfather and gg grandfather. This is my brickwall and i really want to know who these folks were.My grandfather Columbus Davenport Camp was the station master for the Central of Georgia Railroad at Relay and a Justice of the peace in Floyd County. Thanks to the hard work and research of a Mr. Drummond and a Mr. Atkins my ties to Polk county are well documented and it seems I must me related to most everyone in the County.Their exhastive work is available on Genweb. That is why I am a member of the list and I plan later this year or next to visit Cedartown to find out more. If you can be of help I would sincerely appreciate it. By the Way, along the line from poverty in Relay to some success in Colorado, I sired a young man who is a Firstie and will graduate and be commissioned this coming Spring from the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis. Just another officer and gentleman with roots in Polk County. Sincerely, Larry Camp Aurora, Colorado
