I AM LOOKING FOR ANY INFORMATION ON ARCHIBALD MORTON AND HIS WIFE SARAH LOLLIE HACKNEY, ALSO SAMUEL GREEN'S FAMILY.
Does anyone have a list of the various military companies that were formed from Polk co Ga during the Civil War? Or better yet access to the rosters. My great grandfather, Thomas Ezzell, two brothers and a brother in law entered the service from Polk co. My great grandfather was the only one who survived. Thank you Mel Schmidt Woodburn, Oregon
There is a record in Polk County of a marriage of Silas Tanner and Sarah Adeline Johnson in 1860. I have looked at the record on microfilm at the archives. It seemed to be just a listing in a book with the name of the JP who performed the ceremony. My question is: Does some kind of license or other document also exist in Polk Co or at the archives? Thanks, Patsy -- http://home.earthlink.net/~davisdwd/ ICQ #15893205
Do any of you have grandparents or parents that worked on the railroad in Paulding, Polk or in Yorkville area? If so, would you contact me. Thanks. Brenda Pierce [email protected]

Hi, I am new to the list. I found my elusive MOSES WHITE and A.J. (ALEXANDER JONES) PERKINS on your 1860 Polk Co census index. Page 214 and 213 respectively. They were in the Yellow Stone community. Where exactly in the county was that? Is this census in print? Could someone send me their information if it is? Moses married Adalica(Aldalya) Joanah "Jo" Howse in Paulding Co GA Jan 30, 1855. Alexander married her sister Jessica Elizabeth Howse Dec 28, 1851 in Cass Co GA. Is anyone researching this WHITE family? Would like parents and siblings of Moses White. Was the PETER WHITE who married yet another sister, Martha Charlotte Howse, April 16, 1853 in Paulding Co GA, related to Moses? Your help is greatly appreciated. Karen Smith
I am looking into information about the available motels or inns in the city of cedartown georgia
Hello, thought I would post the url of an article in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on the plight of cemeteries in Georgia, especially in the fast growing Atlanta area. Some are being destroyed in the name of progress, nothing really new, but this article does mention some by name so you may want to check it out. The article and photos appeared in the morning edition, Oct 11, 1999. http://www.accessatlanta.com/news/1999/10/11/cemeteries.html Patsy -- http://home.earthlink.net/~davisdwd/ ICQ #15893205
Scott, thanks for that site on the Civil War. Now, I hope you can help me with one of my families. I had never heard of Seney GA, but it is in Polk Co, and seems to be connected with some of the Sheffields to whom I`m related. In particular, I`m interested in Laura Etta Sheffield, daughter of Henry N. Sheffield. She married Brooks Lacy. Henry Sheffield was one of the 3 Sheffield brothers who married 3 Roberts sisters in the mid 1800s in that area. Thanks, Glenn <[email protected]>

My great-grandfather was born in Paulding County about 1849. His name was Jackson G Bulloch. I am seeking information about his parents. I believe that they may have lived in the part of Paulding County that became Polk County in 1851. Jackson had five children, all of whom were born in Polk County: my grandfather, Francis Marion Bulloch (1878), Nathaniel H. Bulloch (1879), Charles Eugene Bulloch (1880), Fannie Florence Bulloch (1884), and Clara M. Bulloch(1887). I would appreciate any information about the Bullochs in Polk County or recommendations about where to search. I will be in Polk County next week-end and I plan to visit the cemetary to see if gravestones will lend any clues. Thanks for your help. Betsy Bulloch Iuvone

Can anyone help me. I am trying to find infomation on the Hendrix (Hendricks) and Gholson families. In my line I have a Nancy (Jane?) Hendrix who married a Thomas C. Gholson. They moved to Texas after the War and were in Waco TX around 1870 or so. I would like to find info on this Gholson line. Also, the possiblity that Henry W. (Warren?) Hendrix married a Gholson. Henry is the brother of Nancy above. He may have married a Sallie Gholson. Henry's wife has been listed in the census of 1860, 1870, 1880 and is on her toom stone as Sarah (never a middle or last name). Henry and Sarah (Sallie?) are both buried in Erath, Co., TX. The Hendrix families (they were related to the Hopper families also) were listed in the 1860 census in Polk county, Cedartown page #170. Any help anyone could give would be great. Ricky Holland
