    3. This is the obit for Elizabeth Pryor Crawford Holmes husband:   The Columbus Daily Enquirer April 14, 1917 James G. Holmes Passes Away at the Age of 97 After a lingering illness, James Gardner Holmes, aged ninety-seven years, passed away at his late residence, No. 709 Second avenue yesterday morning at eleven o'clock. The deceased gentleman, who was probably the oldest in Muscogee county, was well known here and his many friends heard with deep sorrow of his sad demise. Mr. Holmes was born April 7th, 1820 in Edgefield County, S.C., removing to Pike county, Georgia, when but a small boy. He lived in Pike county until 1883 when he moved to Macon, Ga. In 1903 he moved to Columbus. Mr. Holmes was a Confederate veteran having been in service in the war between the states. Surviving the deceased are three sons, Jno. C. Crawford, of Americus, Ga.; W.H. Holmes, of Fort Gaines, Ga., and Joe P. Holmes of this city; one daughter Mrs. Amelia West, of Cuthbert, Ga. The funeral services will be conducted from the family residence this afternoon at three o'clock, Rev. James A. Thomas, pastor of St. Luke Methodist church, officiating.
