    3. Lynn,  Sorry it took me so long to answer you.  I'm looking for the obituary of my 3rd great grandfather, Joe Elbert McGee, who died between 1878 and 1880, possibly in Pike county, or Spalding county. My grandmother, Louisa, is listed as a widow on the 1880 census for Pike county, with the youngest child listed as one years old. Do you have copies of the two transcription books for sale?  Thanks, Judy ________________________________ From: "gapike-request@rootsweb.com" <gapike-request@rootsweb.com> To: gapike@rootsweb.com Sent: Tuesday, June 7, 2011 3:00 AM Subject: GAPIKE Digest, Vol 6, Issue 68 Today's Topics:   1. Book 1 - 1888-1898 Book 2 - 1899-1909 For the year 1888 there is only one issue available on microfilm. The Pike County Journal officially began January 15, 1889. The Barnesville Gazette has some newspapers back to 1868. Remember that Barnesville was in Pike County until 1922. There are also some early Griffin newspapers which included Pike County news. Griffin was in Pike County at one time. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. What line is he associated with?  I am hoping there is some sort of family tree online with documentation for this information. Thank you for you all your work.
