I know one thing for certain..we cannot let Lynn Cunningham retire from all of her genealogical work. Again, my thanks to Lynn for printing the copy of the Pike militia districts in the Pike Historical newsletter..I was a hit this morning with my little militia sheet. Everyone asking, "where did you get that" and I told them about our Lynn. I wanted to support the National Archives in Morrow, GA this morning because they opened on a Monday so that "We the People" could come and see the 1940 census. They were there to help us see the census but to no avail. Even the archive could not get any movement on the computer screens. Figuring this could be an all day thing I came home but did thank them for their efforts and the refreshments and 1940's music that they had so graciously provided. Yes, there were about thirty of us there at ten in the morning..people coming and going. I am sure many of you are like me..old.:-).and on this census which I find exciting. Happy hunting! Barbara S. Going on Ancestry as soon as the census was "available," I found that they are downloading a state at a time and it may be some time before Georgia is available. This was the same with the National Archives site. So with my ancestor list at hand I had no where to go!!! I'll try to be patient!
