The National Parks Service has a wonderful website that you'll need to check out. Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System (both Union and Confederate) at: http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/soldiers.htm You can type in the name of your Civil War ancestor and click on "Submit Query" and get a report of that soldier. Then you can click on the soldiers name for more information, or for more information on his regiment, you can click on the regiment name and see a synopsis of it's history. Then if you scroll down to the bottom of that page you have two options: click on the first choice to see everyone in the regiment or click on the second choice to get an Excel, printable file, of everyone in the regiment.
