My Brick Wall - who were the parents of Francis Marion Crawley, born 1837? My Francis Marion Crawley appears in the home of James and Mahala Crawley in the 1850 census of Pike County and a male child less than 5 years of age was in this home for the 1840 census in Pike. James and Mahala Crawley would have been 60 and 52 years of age at the time of his birth. The 1880 census shows Sarah Crawley (proven daughter of James and Mahala Crawley) in the home of Francis Marion Crawley as "aunt". Their advanced ages at the time of his birth and the 1880 census point towards James and Mahala being the grandparents and not the parents of Francis Marion. A thorough search has been made of available Pike County courthouse records (guardianship, estate, bastardy bonds, etc.) to no avail. All Crawley's in Pike at that time have been accounted for except for a Henry Crawley, who shows up in one early tax digest and then disappears. Does anyone know something of Henry Crawley - especially if he had any children? Barbara Smallwood Stock Also researching CAUTHEN, MARTIN, HEAD, DUNCAN, GILMORE in Pike County, GA
