This is the weekend for the Pike County roll call. Beginning tomorrow (May 17) I am inviting you to post your Pike County ancestors and any questions you might have concerning them. Please observe the following guidelines: 1. Type your surnames in the subject line. If you hit the reply button and change the email subject, be sure to change the subject line, too. People will delete the email without reading if the subject line does not interest them. 2. Be as specific as you can! Remember to include dates and locations and any other pertinent information that might jog another listers memory. 3. If you need a specific lookup, please ask. If any of you have specific resources and are willing to do lookups for this weekend, please let the list know. If the resource is available, either I or (hopefully) another lister will volunteer to do a lookup for you. Your question has to be specific - please do not ask for 'every Smith' in Pike County in 1850!! 4. Be kind to one another. Everyone has a different level of computer competence and genealogy experience. I will closely monitor all queries and be there to help when needed. Good luck - you might find that long lost Pike County relative this weekend! Lynn
In 1860 Pike Co., GA. census... P. O. Zebulon ... Martha J. SLOAN, age 22, and her brother, Joseph W. SLOAN, age 16, were living in the household of John & Rachel WILLIAMSON, who I assume to be their grandparents. Joseph SLOAN died in the Civil War. I have found marriages in Pike Co. ( Thank you Pike Co. GenWeb) for: Martha D. SLOAN and I. D. ANDREWS 1861 Rachael SLOANE and Wm. EZELL 1859 Does anyone know about the SLOAN(E) family? Was Rachael SLOANE the mother of Martha and Joseph? Was Rachael SLOANE the daughter of John & Rachel WILLIAMSON? Where did the ANDREWS and EZELL families live? Did they move from Pike County?
