    1. Re: [GAPIKE] 1895 Owen / Powell Marriage - ties to Whatleys
    2. James : You know, I read you e-mail and then saved it to answer later. Meanwhile, I read Joe Cannafax Hutcheson Deed abstracts and found one that I added to my notes for Newton Allen Horton, son of Peyton F. Horton. Now, the funny thing is, I also have the 1880 Census abstract in my notes for Newton -- and guess who he is living with? Yes, Bricy Owen! Now, I don't know the exact relation, but Newton's sister, Emma A. Horton m. William Andrew Whatley. So there must be a tied between Wm Whatley and Ida (Whatley) Powell, 2nd wife of Bricy Owen! My guess is that Wm & Ida are siblings -- Wm b. ca 1855, Ida b. 1858. Newton A. Horton eventually moved to Carroll Co. GA where he lived until his death in 1916. Here is Ida in the 1880 Census - District 806, Coweta Co., GA, pg 499A <A HREF="http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/census/individual_record.asp?INDI_CODE=1880US_12554175_0&frompage=5">Jane C.
