Zebulon, Pike County, Georgia, Jan. 17, 1896 Milner Burned Out Eight Houses Swept Away At A Clip The Sufferers Are: Gardner, Berry, Holmes, Tyus, Lindsey & Hunt, Woodall & Head Vague rumors reached here yesterday of a most disastrous fire which occurred at Milner on Wednesday night. The report is that the fire originated in Gardner’s livery stable about 9 o’clock p.m. and burning this out rapidly leaped to Berry’s stable and thence to Gardner’s store Berry’s store Holmes drugstore Tyus’ store Lindsey’s store Head and Woodall’s store It is said that all the losers were protected by insurance except Judge Gardner. It was a fire that almost swept the plucky little town out of existence, and the hearty sympathy of everybody goes out to the unfortunate people in their great loss.
