The Pike County Journal. Zebulon, Pike County, Georgia, Jan. 17, 1896 A Beautiful Wedding Last Wednesday at the handsome home of Mr. and Mrs. R.W. Hale at Jolly, their niece, Miss Liora Hale was united in marriage to Mr. T.M. Carmichael of near Jackson, Ga. About fifteen couples, the special friends of the contracting parties, were present to witness the marriage and offer sincere congratulations. The parlor was decorated with holly branches and beautiful flowers and presented an appearance altogether fairy-like. At 11 oclock a.m. the ceremony was performed most beautifully and impressively by Mr. Pharr of McDonough. It was a handsome couple. The bride was a perfect vision of loveliness in a dress of dark green. After the marriage the guests were invited into the dining room where a magnificent dinner was served. The collection of good things was extensive and prepared in the best manner known to the culinary art. The happy young couple left in the afternoon for their future home near Jackson, accompanied by Mr. Hale and Miss Emma, the brides sister. Mr. Carmichael is one of the most progressive and promising young men of this section, and has won as a bride one of the fairest and sweetest of Pikes pretty daughters. The Journal wishes them an abundance of happiness. (Transcribed 11/17/02 Lynn Cunningham)
