    3. The Pike County Journal. Zebulon, Pike County, Georgia, Mar. 6, 1896 Death of Mr. D.M. Pitts of Molena After an illness of about ten days Mr. D.M. Pitts died of paralysis at his home in Molena, Ga., at 4 o’clock yesterday afternoon, Feb. 24, 1896. Mr. Pitts was a member of the Baptist church having professes faith in this church in his youth. He was a brave, warm-hearted, Christian gentleman, loved an honored by all who knew him. He lived a number of years in Lee county, near Liberty church of which he was a consistent member. In the fall of 1892 with his family he moved to this place, and has made us a good and very useful citizen. He had many friends in Molena and vicinity who will be deeply grieved to learn of his death. Owing to the illness of Mrs. Pitts, the funeral services were held at the residence this afternoon at 1:30 o’clock, Rev. J.W. Taylor conducting the service. His remarks were deep and very impressive. After which the pallbearers took charge of the remains and all that was mortal of our friend and brother was laid to rest in Mt. Olive cemetery. At the time of his death he was 52 yrs. 6 mo. of age. His wife Mrs. V.A. Pitts, two sons Harry and Edgar Pitts, one daughter Mrs. Edmond J. Allen survive him. We mourn with them in their sad bereavement. May the spirit of God the Father hover over and keep them while they live and prepare them to meet Him in the “Land that is fairer than day” is the prayer of their friend. - J.H.
