Here's another couple who married in a public road because of parental objections. The Pike County Journal. Zebulon, Pike County, Georgia, Feb. 28, 1896 Mr. Lon Davis, a young farmer living near Creswell in Spalding county and Miss Jackie Pryor of near Beeks, this county, were married last week. The ceremony was performed by Esquire Bledsoe of Zetella in the public road near the residence of Dr. Yarborough. This little irregularity was on account of parental objections. The bride is the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G.W. Pryor and has many friends in Zebulon where she attended school. (Transcribed 11/17/02 Lynn Cunningham)
