To the list, Charles Caldwell has sent this information to us for help in sorting out the Caldwell's of Pike. As you see, he has other Pike County family names as well: Begin with Isom Caldwell b. 1823 in Monroe Co. I know about Charles Y. Caldwell who left a will in Pike Co. in 1853. He was the son of Spencer Caldwell and Martha Young of old Dobbs Co., NC. And I know about Henry A. Caldwell. He was Charles Y's nephew. Henry Allen Caldwell was the Clerk of the Superior Court in Pike Co. in 1843. He married Susan Russell Beckham, dau of James Beckham and Martha Carson. They were my gr grandparents. I have a lot of information on Martha Carson's ancestors if there are descendants of this Beckham family on this list. Henry A. Caldwell lived in Spalding Co. in the early 1850s and moved to Coffee Co., AL in 1855. Most of Charles Y. Caldwell's children moved to Monroe Co., TN after his death. Julia Caldwell, his dau. married Abraham W. Cozart in one of the counties surrounding Pike. After she died, he married her sister Martha Glenn Caldwell. They, along with Samuel H. Caldwell, son of Charles Y., and Mary Walker Caldwell, Charles Y's dau moved to Tennessee. Along with them went Charles Young Nelson Caldwell, son of Martha Glenn Caldwell and her first husband. She had this child's name changed to Charles Y. Caldwell in court in Pike County in the early 1850s. He grew up in Pike Co., and in Monroe Co., TN, then went to Alabama to serve in the Civil War. Around 1910 he, along with his wife and children, moved to Waukomis, Garfield Co., OK where he died in 1918. I suspect, but have no proof, that Samuel Caldwell, brother of Charles Y. Caldwell moved to Monroe Co., and perhaps on to Pike Co., after 1820, but as of this time have no proof. Isom may be his son. I am interested in any of the Caldwells who have North Carolina connections. Some of the Pike Co. Caldwells originated in the Abbeville District, SC, but not all of them. Thanks, Charles, for this information. I hope someone on the list can help. Lynn
