Joseph Oliver Beckham was born in Pike Co., GA on 31 Oct 1844. He married Elizabeth Ann Ballard in Pike County on 13 Dec 1865. Moved to Claiborne Parish, LA at the beginning of 1873. He died at Ringgold, Bienville Parish, LA 12 Mar 1895. His wife Elizabeth Ann Ballard Beckham, however moved with some of her children to Texas. She died at Joaquin, Shelby Co., TX but I do not have the date of her death. Their children: 1. Stephen E. Beckham, b. 1867, Pike Co., GA 2. William B. My husband & I spent a great deal of time in the Ringgold area of Bienville Parish, LA last spring doing research in the cemeteries there. Among the graves we found were the following: 1. Joseph Oliver Beckham, Springhill Cemetery, SW of Ringgold off Highway 154 on Springhill Church Road, Ringgold, Bienville Parish, LA (Saturday, 7 Apr 2001): Hinton John W Mar 28, 1869 - Oct 23 1951 Annie Mae Mar 25, 1873 - Jan 25, 1947 Next to: Joe Beckham born 1872 died 1946 (from date of birth, this must be brother of Annie) In memory of ___eph O. Beckham (this is Joseph O. Beckham, father of Annie Mae) 2. William B. Beckham, Wimberly Cemetery, Hwy 7 South of Ringgold, Ringgold, Bienville Parish, LA (Sunday, 8 Apr 2001): Beckham Jennie T May 10, 1874 - Oct 17, 1956 (nee Virginia D (Jennie) Hinton) William B Sep 14, 1869 - Mar 6, 1923 Myrtle Nov 18, 1897 - Dec 31, 1942 (daughter of Jennie & William) 3. Joseph Oliver Beckham, Jr: Listed under number 1 4. Wasn't aware of Fletcher Henry Beckham when we were there, but he is listed on the Springhill Cemetery site. He appears to be buried with Nancy Samantha Crawford & W. A. Crawford on one side & Otto Crawford & Frederick Asberry Crawford on the other. The dates given there (11 October 1876 - 6 May 1928), are slightly different than what you have which proves again to me that the best thing is to visit the cemetery & see it for yourself. Lisa, Do you know anymore about these Crawford's you've listed here? My Nancy McLeod, had a sister, Sarah, that married a William Crawford, and they migrated to Chambers Co. Al. She died sometime in the 1850's, and is not listed in his household, in the 1860 census. She died, and then he left, and is suppose to have died in Louisiana. By the way, I grew up in Shreveport, and know exactly where Ringgold is!! I'm homesick!
