I have visited The Rock Ga. twice in the last three years and am still trying to learn the name of a very neglected cemetery located on PIEDMONT ROAD, was formerly located in Pike CO.GA. Is now in Lamar CO.Ga. This Cemetery is located about 3 miles West of "The Rock" on Piedmont Road, on the right hand side of the road just after crossing a low water bridge. There is no sign or name posted, but there is a drive way of about 25 foot and a chain hangs between a very old tree that some one has painted with an orange stripe It crosses the drive so one can not enter . This Cemetery is very over grown and much neglected with graves and stones located in the brush, a complete disgrace to whom ever is suppose to be in charge of it's maintenance. This matter should be made aware of,to some one that is in authority. If I lived in the area, I would clean it up and try to take care of it. I am thoroughly amazed that it has been left to fall in to the shape it is in. There is another Cemetery and Church located about 1/4 mile on down Piedmont Road , on the same side of Piedmont and The Rock Road. (MT. ZION BAPTIST CHURCH AND CEMETERY) I am wondering if the neglected Cemetery was the original MT.ZION BAPTIST CHURCH AND CEMETERY? I would appreciate any help with this offending matter.
