    3. The Pike County Journal Zebulon, Pike County, Georgia: April 29, 1892 Mrs. Elizabeth Ballard Dead On the 21st inst., Mrs. Elizabeth Ballard of Fayette county, a sister of Capt. A.S. Allen of this county, passed from life into death after a short illness. At the time of her death she was on a visit to her daughter Mrs. John F. Dickinson, at Griffin. She was seized with a violent coughing spell and her daughter ran to her and while supporting her mother’s head in her arms, the candle of life went out. Mrs. Ballard was in her 65th year and had lived a consistent member of the Methodist church for many years. She was loved and respected by all who knew her. The remains were buried at the old homestead in Fayette county on the 23rd inst. The Journal tenders sympathy to the bereaved relatives. (Transcribed 10/24/02 Lynn Cunningham) Note: Elizabeth J. Allen, b. 26 April 1827, d. 21 April 1892, was the wife of Thomas Weldon Ballard. They married 4 Sept 1845 in Pike County, and lived in Pike for several years. They are both buried in the Old Ballard cemetery in Fayette County.
