Hamil----various spellings-----Hamel, Hammil, Hamill, Hammel etc. Would appreciate any information about any Hamil (varied spellings) anywhere in Georgia in the 1800s. They came from SC in the late 1700s into Willes Co., GA then went to Jasper and Henry Counties. Finally, many Hamils were in Butts and Pike Counties by the 1840s. Some have also been found in surrounding counties. My direct line is Hugh Hamil (father probably James Hamil), his son Briant V. Hamil and his son Hugh Jackson Hamil. Associated surnames are Colley, Carmichael, and Turner. I am glad to share information.
