Notes for JARRETT ENOCH OXFORD: The Pike County Journal. Zebulon, Pike County, Georgia, March 4, 1910 Shooting Near Molena Saturday Night Jack Oxford Seriously Shot By Will and Jim Cox Jack Oxford was shot by Will Cox near Molena on the home place of Rev. J.D. Carreker Saturday night. It was at first thought that Oxford would die but he was carried to Atlanta Monday for an operation and it has since been decided that one is not necessary and he is now said to be improving rapidly. It seems that there had been some difference between Louis Stribling, father-in-law of Oxford, and the two Coxs but that it had been adjusted. Will and Jim Cox went to Stribling's home Saturday night and soon occurred the shooting. He fired several shots, one of which only struck Oxford in the left side and two stray shots hit some of the Stribling children with no bad results. The coxes were placed in jail Monday and have not had any commitment trial awaiting the condition of Oxford.
