Does any one know of the "cemetery at old Salem" (Lynn - I will wager a good deal that you know the answer - grin ) I don't see one with that name in the cemetery listings in the Pike Co., GA GenWeb archives. Is it lost or does it have a different name? I am trying to locate the cemetery John Thomas Beckham is buried at, per his obituary. His mother, Malinda Amelia "Milly" (Trice) Beckham, is buried at the Beckham / White Cemetery according to the transcription of this cemetery, though her obituary states she was buried at Hebron church. I know John Thomas Beckham married Louisa Fossett -- would guess her family has some connection to the road the Beckham / White Cemetery is on. . . Thanks! Valerie * "Pike County Times-Journal" Zebulon, Ga., Friday, June 16, 1905 Mr. J. T. Beckham Dies Suddenly Mr. J. T. Beckham of Concord, died Wednesday of heart failure. He had not been in good health for several months and he had stated to his family and friends that they might expect to find him dead at any time. He retired as usual Tuesday night in apparent usual health and was found dead in his room early Wednesday morning, the supposition being that he died about four o’clock. He was 98** years of age and an honored and highly respected citizen. (** ?98? s/b ~63) The funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at three o’clock at the Methodist church in Concord and were conducted by Rev. T.S. Edwards, his pastor of Zebulon. A large gathering of friends were present as a mark of respect to his memory. The interment took place in the cemetery at old Salem near Concord.
