Hi Lynn, The marriage of John and Nancy's Rebecca to Frederick Kent is uncertain in my mind. True, there is a marriage record in Pike County that would seem to indicate the validity of this marriage and Ouida Hamil White does so state in her contribution to "The History of Jones County". For many years I included this union in my John Greene record. Several years ago, I had correspondence with another man who claimed that Frederick Kent's wife was Rebecca Grun not Rebecca Green and he asserted that the written Grun in the marriage record was misinterpreted as Green. Subsequent to that, I had correspondence with a lady who had been to Frederick Kent's grave and had also seen the tombstone for his wife. She confirmed that Frederick definitely married a Green. At this point I felt quite comfortable with adding the Green/Kent union to the John Greene record. However, about this same time you forwarded the Greene reunion notes to me. In those notes, the list of John and Nancy's children and who they married was very accurately recorded. Those notes stated that their daughter Rebecca died as a young woman and no spouse was recorded. The tombstone inscription for Frederick Kent's wife Rebecca, indicates that she did not die as a young woman. (I do not recall the names of the other researchers that I corresponded with on this problem, but I probably have them somewhere in a file and will try to find them if you are interested in contacting them). Because of the accuracy of the other information in the Greene notes, I removed the Rebecca Greene/Frederick Kent union from my John Greene record. If you have some additional record to indicate that John's Rebecca did indeed marry Frederick Kent, I would greatly appreciate you sharing it with me. Have you ever seen a cemetery record for a Rebecca Green/Greene in Pike County (or vicinity) that would be appropriate for John's Rebecca? Let me know your thoughts on this problem. It greatly interests me. Your cousin, Arthur Lewis
