I am a Pyron descendant and have several instances of the Pyrons and Allens being related. William Pyron, son of Charles Pyron who died in Jackson Co., Ga. about 1823, was born on Feb. 10, 1770 in Va. and died in Greene Co., Ga. on Sept. 29, 1853. William's first wife was Martha Allen who was born July 28, 1780 and died on Oct. 8, 1815. Martha was the daughter of Drury Allen and Elizabeth Yarbrough. Children of William and Martha were: Susanna Pyron, Drury Pyron, Lewis Pyron, Charles Allen Pyron, Josiah Hicks Pyron, Martha Pyron, Elizabeth Pyron, and Nancy Pyron. After the death of Martha Allen Pyron, William married Mrs. Elizabeth Browning Allen, widow of Josiah Allen, his brother-in-law. William and Elizabeth had one child: Emily Pyron. Martha Pyron, the sixth child of William Pyron and Martha Allen, was born abt. 1814 and married her cousin Stephen Allen, son of Stokes Allen and Susan Fouche. Martha and Stephen were married in Greene Co., Ga. on June 14, 1830. William Pyron's brother was James Pyron who was born May 25, 1776 and died on Dec. 11, 1820. James was married to Lucy Johnson, and they lived in Jackson Co., Ga. James and Lucy's daughter Nancy Pyron married her first cousin Charles Allen Pyron, son of William Pyron and Martha Allen. Another daughter Rachel Pyron married Drury Pyron in Jackson Co. in Dec. of 1822. A third daughter of James and Lucy named Martha Pyron married Pleasant J. Allen in Greene Co., Ga. on June 11, 1832. Pleasant was the son of Josiah Allen and Elizabeth Browning. Elizabeth Browning Allen later became the wife of Martha Pyron's uncle William Pyron. Abraham Stokes Allen born Sep 24, 1813 was son of Young Drewry Allen and Jincy (Moore). Abraham Stokes Allen was married to my Martha Caroline (Marshall). Janell, According to the data I have, Abraham Stokes Allen is the son of Young Drewry Allen and wife Jane (Moore) Allen, and is the grandson of Drewry and Elizabeth (Yarborough) Allen. According to "ALLENS OF THE SOUTHERN STATES" by Norma and George Miller: Josiah died in Greene Co Ga. Josiah's wife was Elizabeth (Browning). after his death she married William Pyron. Good luck, Bobbie Margaret McCleskey wrote: > When Drewry Allen wrote his will in 1823, sons Josiah and Clement were > already deceased. When Drewry Allen wrote his will in 1823, sons Josiah and Clement were already deceased. The will names Josiah's children and Clement's wife. I take that to mean that Josiah's wife was also deceased at the time. Does anyone know where and when Josiah died? The family moved to Pike Co. around 1822. From where? Margaret McCleskey
Drewry Allen wrote his will in 1823. His sons Young D. Allen and Stokes were named administrators. If we assume that they were both "of age" in 1823, that would mean that they were both born by 1802 . Do you have an approximate date of birth for the Abraham Stokes Allen in question? Margaret

Janell, The will of Drewry Allen names these children: Josiah, Clement, Stokes, Young D., and Nancy. It also names grandchildren with the surname "Pyron" which would imply to me a daughter who married a man named Pyron. Is son, Stokes, Abraham Stokes Allen? I don't know. The will names these children of Josiah Allen who was already deceased when the will was written: Pleasant, Young D., Barbara, Robert (probably yours) and Polly (probably my Mary Ann). Son, Clement, must have been deceased also, because the will names his wife, Nancy. The will also names these slaves: Leath, Ferebe, Mack, Hagar, Cheny, Sherwood, Big Hannah, Isaac, Caleb, Charlotte, Dido, Delt, Drury, Lack, Joe, John, Penny, Booker, Dinah, Winnie and Elleck. Hello Everyone, Does anyone on this list know the father of Abraham Stokes Allen, born 1811? I'm interested in whether he could be a child of Drewry Allen, and therefore an uncle of "my" Mary Ann Allen, b. 1824, daughter of Robert A. Allen. I do not have a list of Drewry's children, but would love to have that data if someone could share. Thanks, Janell > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Lynn B. Can someone on the list tell us where the first Drury/Drewery Allen is buried? I've been told that his grave is marked by a plaque by the DAR and is somewhere in an area that is now a country club, or golf course. If I recall correctly, this may have been his homeplace, or an old cemetery. Would like the information on the marker if anyone knows that data. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ga/pike/cemetery.htm I've just posted the East View Baptist Cemetery that Lynn Cunningham typed .... (thanks, Lynn) Hope someone finds an ancestor they're looking for!! Virginia
The Davis Family Cemetery had been submitted to the Pike County GAGenWeb pages a little while back. I checked the list from Lynn against the one on the site to see if they were in agreement and they were. The one online, however, had the more recent burials. If we can determine that there are no copyright infringements, I would be interested in using the cemetery data on the site, or link to it if Virginia puts it in the Archives. The Archives is definitely better equipped to handle the very large cemeteries. We have several new members to our Pike County list. I would like to welcome them and encourage each to post their queries or reports. Also, I will post various, smaller, cemeteries as I as I have time to type them up from the old Pike County Cemetery list that has never been published. This list is incomplete, since the cemeteries were transcribed in the early 1970's, but it is better than nothing. I have completed a couple of the larger cemeteries, and I will send those to Virginia Crilley to put on the archives site as they are too large to send via e-mail. -Lynn
