There is also a transcription from 1972, but I don't believe it is posted on the web -- yet. If anyone who is in a geographically more desirable location to visit the cemetery than I am, I would be willing to compile a listing of the graves from the two transcriptions so that there is a starting list. Then, if someone would like to spend a day or two walking through the cemetery, the information could be verified and preserved for the future. With so many of the graves being stone "crypts" in which the moisture just sits on, it is easy to see why it had faded over time. Both transcriptions have inaccuracies or else the transcription does not clearly/fully describe what is on the gravestones. I would add notes from my records to help in the process (i.e. marriages, parents names, etc.). And then of course we would make it fully available upon completion. Valerie

Mrs. Kendrick died yesterday and will be buried today. (Transcribed 11/14/02 Lynn Cunningham) Note: This is Matilda McCord, wife of Joseph Samuel Kendrick.
The Pike County Journal. Zebulon, Pike County, Georgia, November 22, 1895 Mr. and Mrs. Milton Wagner, Mr. Bob Wagner and their sister formerly of this place but now at Meridian, Miss., were in town this week visiting friends. They left Zebulon in 1882 for the west and this was their first visit to their old home since that time. It was a surprise to many people here to see them, and a source of gratification to find that the Wagner boys are succeeding well in business. (Transcribed 11/14/02 Lynn Cunningham)
The Pike County Journal. Zebulon, Pike County, Georgia, November 22, 1895 Marriage at Hollonville There was a big church wedding at Hollonville last Sunday, at which Mr. James M. Riggins, of Neal, was united to Miss Maggie Scott, daughter of Mr. Z.T. Scott. Rev. E.W. Hammond performed the ceremony in his most happy manner. The blushing and beautiful bride was led to the alter by her father, while the groom marched up on the arm of Prof. Adams. There were a number of attendants, and all faced the audience according to the latest and most sensible form, the minister also having his back turned to the audience. The congratulations were numerous and hearty. (Transcribed 11/14/02 Lynn Cunningham)

To the list, Charles Caldwell has sent this information to us for help in sorting out the Caldwell's of Pike. As you see, he has other Pike County family names as well: Begin with Isom Caldwell b. 1823 in Monroe Co. I know about Charles Y. Caldwell who left a will in Pike Co. in 1853. He was the son of Spencer Caldwell and Martha Young of old Dobbs Co., NC. And I know about Henry A. Caldwell. He was Charles Y's nephew. Henry Allen Caldwell was the Clerk of the Superior Court in Pike Co. in 1843. He married Susan Russell Beckham, dau of James Beckham and Martha Carson. They were my gr grandparents. I have a lot of information on Martha Carson's ancestors if there are descendants of this Beckham family on this list. Henry A. Caldwell lived in Spalding Co. in the early 1850s and moved to Coffee Co., AL in 1855. Most of Charles Y. Caldwell's children moved to Monroe Co., TN after his death. Julia Caldwell, his dau. married Abraham W. Cozart in one of the counties surrounding Pike. After she died, he married her sister Martha Glenn Caldwell. They, along with Samuel H. Caldwell, son of Charles Y., and Mary Walker Caldwell, Charles Y's dau moved to Tennessee. Along with them went Charles Young Nelson Caldwell, son of Martha Glenn Caldwell and her first husband. She had this child's name changed to Charles Y. Caldwell in court in Pike County in the early 1850s. He grew up in Pike Co., and in Monroe Co., TN, then went to Alabama to serve in the Civil War. Around 1910 he, along with his wife and children, moved to Waukomis, Garfield Co., OK where he died in 1918. I suspect, but have no proof, that Samuel Caldwell, brother of Charles Y. Caldwell moved to Monroe Co., and perhaps on to Pike Co., after 1820, but as of this time have no proof. Isom may be his son. I am interested in any of the Caldwells who have North Carolina connections. Some of the Pike Co. Caldwells originated in the Abbeville District, SC, but not all of them. Thanks, Charles, for this information. I hope someone on the list can help. Lynn

Grace is my father's sister, I have information at home regarding the Harrison's. Wayne is my cousin. Pat Burris
Pat, small world. The only thing I could remember was "Miss" Grace Harrison so I called Marjorie Frances (Bottoms) Harrison to get Wayne's parents' correct names. I told Marjorie why I was calling and asked if she knew anyone still in the family doing research and she said Pat Burris in Florida had called at times for information. I have known Marjorie all of my life. I knew that Wayne and I would connect through Harrison in Meansville area, when I get to that point in research, but did not realize his mother was a Pennington....so another connection. As my grandson says, "cool"! Father's name: Sacious Battle Harrison and Mother's name: Susie Grace Pennington. I asked,"where in the world did Sacious come from"? Marjorie does not know and I doubt that Wayne knows either. Valerie, We went from Concord to Hollonville so I could track the directions that Lee Gregg gave to me....this caused us to pass the Hollonville cem.- we did not stop. Pictures are of Coggins cem. BUT, as mentioned originally, we stopped at Williamson United Methodist Church cem. - I made only 6 or 7 pictures and ran out of film...I listed all the names I wrote down tha day in an earlier message. But let me mention the one Coggin site again....William Oscar Coggin, 1869 to 1940 and Rada Patton Coggin, 1872 to 1956....no picture because I ran out of film before I found this grave site. I did not send Williamson pictures because 2 or 3 of them are of the front and side of the church itself and an overview of the cemetery...and 3 of Banks, Crawford, and Marshall which are some of my other lines. Your question: who is Sallie B. Coggin the Mother of? I do not know. Good idea - maybe someone on this site can scan the pictures. Again, my comment is that it is sad that the graves stones have no names. Probably did at one time. But I may have missed one or two. The Bulah in the above is a different from the Beulah Coggin who married Wm Rufus Hardy. Beulah who married Wm Hardy was the daughter of Daniel "Josephus" C. Barbara -- The cemetery photos arrived today! Thank you so much! Maybe I didn't understand you clearly were you at the Coggin Cemetery AND Hollonville Cemetery that day. Maybe that's what confused me. The photos you sent are of folks that are buried at the Coggin Cemetery, per the 1972 transcription sent to my by Lynn Cunningham. The photos sent to me are of the graves of: 1. Little Collie Eldora, daughter of W. J. & L. P. Coggin, b May 1, 1880, died Oct 3, 1892 2. William Jasper Coggin born April 21, 1836 Died June 9, 1906 3. Mrs. L. Pallie Coggin Born Aug. 14, 1845 departed this life Sept 2, 1930 4. Sallie B. Coggin Died Sept. 30, 1895 Mother >>>Who is she the Mother of??<<< I also have photos of the graves of John Silas Coggin and his wife, Sarah (Bowland) Coggin, who are also buried there, too. They were sent to me last April by Wilbur Nixon. John Silas Coggin b. July 23, 1778, died Aug 12, 1853 Sarah Bowland Coggin b. Nov 2, 1780, died July 13, 1852 The above couple is the ancestors to most of the Coggins in Pike Co. They are my husband's 5X Great-grandparents! There is also a Burrell Coggin, who is some sort of relation to John Silas Coggin (not a son, as he is not named in the his will) who had some family stay in the area. My scanner is not speaking to my new PC, so I don't have a way of getting the photos to Debra to add to the archives. Is there anyone out there that I can mail these photos to, so that they can be e-mailed to Debra for addition to the archives? Thank you again so much!
