Hello Paulding County, Will you please help me find information about these elusive folks ? On 24 Aug 1862 James M. TOWNSEND/TOWSAND married a Rachel REAVES in Paulding Co. They had three children: 1. Frances (Frankie) b. 1863 2. Mary Elizabeth, b. 10 June 1865 (My GGrandmother) 3. Robert, b. 1867 Now.........on to rumors, family stories, etc. A family story says that both James and Rachel died shortly after the birth of Robert, leaving the children orphaned and the girls went to live with their Grandmother Reaves. Robert was adopted by a family named Sears in Birmingham, AL. It is said that this was the third marriage for James. I did find a J. M. Townsand in the Paulding Co., 1860 Census, Pumpkinvine, 951st Dist, p. 824, Fam. 817/813. TOWNSAND, J. M. 33 GA Farmer $200 Rl Estate $100 Pers. ESt. Minerva 33 GA John W. 14 GA Sarah A. 13 GA Susanah E. 10 GA Larra A. 8 GA James A. 5 GA William M. 2 GA Is it possible this is the man I'm looking for and one of his previous families ? Did all these Townsends and Reaves families leave the area ? Does anyone know if any of them stayed around and perhaps still have descendants there to this day ? A gold star to the person or persons who can provide information leading to the capture of these folks. ClaudineP

Message to Charles Gravett on the Paulding list - I had you down for a a look up and your email address is bouncing - hopefully you are on this list. There is a Chas Gravit on the 1840 Cobb County Census - page 266 Males in household 1 child 1-5 ; 1 (15-20) 1 (20-30) 1 60-70 Females in Household 1 1-5; 1 (15-20) 1 (40-50) I suppose this could be your Charles (Chas) - you will need to look at the county divisions from the other data you have. Hope this message reaches you. Brenda Msg copied to Cobb List in case any of you are searching for Gravit.
