    3. Hi, Tim, Thanks for the reply. I've take a Y-DNA test, which of course doesn't help, and a "family-finder" test. But my nearest Gann connection is my great-grandmother, so the chances of finding a match there are not great. I've not found any recognizable Gann connections there. I suspect they were German. They lived in a very German area of PA, and John and his son were buried in a Lutheran cemetery. Terry > Hi Terry! > > Has anybody from your Gann line done any of the DNA testing? 3. Please consider joining the Gann project at Family Tree DNA. It is mostly Samuel Gann descendants, but descendants of other Gann lines are welcome and included. Your family finder test is all you need to be part of the project. Have you considered looking for a direct male line descendant of your Gann line to get a Y-DNA test on your line? 3. Tim, My "family finder" test was an Ancestry. Can I transfer result that to the Family Tree DNA? I'd not thought of having a Gann relative do a Y-DNA test. I've not followed the Ganns past my great-grandmother's nieces and nephews, so the youngest male Gann I've identified was born in 1892. It would take some work to find a living male descendant. 3. Do a web search on the Gann Society.  I sent my Grandfathers name to them and they sent me back his whole Gann family gedcom. You stated that you went back to Samuel, which Samuel? If Samuel and Elizabeth, the earliest known Gann's in America then they would probably have your John. Linda, I belonged to the Gann Society for a number of years -- they never had anything on my line. It was Tim who said he went back to Samuel, not me. As I said, I only go back to John. Terry Reigel

    3.   Terry:  Thank you very much for explaining the "tests" to me.  A few years ago we were able to establish through Microchrondial dna that a lady who had lived in Izard County many years ago, was a sister to my gr-gr-grandmother Guthrie.  Amazing!  Thanks again.Betty M.related to:Guthie's, Ganns, Franks, Beal, Bates, McMillan's, and many others.Betty Mc
