I am searching for information on the Uriah SPARKS family in Newton Co. GA in the 1830s. Uriah was the son of Abel SPARKS and Elizabeth BENGE and was born 28 Nov 1797 in NC. He died in November 1863 in Talladega Co. Al. On 8 Dec 1831, Uriah married Sarah WHATLEY in Newton Co. Sarah was the daughter of Solomon WHATLEY and Mary "Polly" McLendon and was born in GA in 1807. Uriah and Sarah's 3 oldest children were born in Newton County: Mary Elizabeth, in 1833 (she married Aaron Parker in 1852), Martha, born about 1835, and Simeon, born about 1837. The rest of the children were born in Carroll Co. GA: Citizen Napoleon, born 1841, Joseph M., born 1843, Moses Andrew Jackson, born 1844, Dennis McFranklin, born 1847, and Nancy, born 1850. Uriah SPARKS was first married to Polly PINHINTER. They had at least 4 sons. Polly died and then Uriah married Sarah. After Sarah's death in the 1850s, Uriah then married the widow, Mrs. Mahala Browning Coleman. He had no children with Mahala. If anyone is researching the SPARKS line, please contact me. Thanks.
