Hi, cousins!! Please spread the word about our new list - the more of us there are on it, the better will be our chances of finding our ancestors. I hope you will soon send your post about your missing ancestors to the list so we can all help each other!! This is my brick wall in Newton county: Benjamin KING was born 1802 in NC and taken to TN "as a young child". He and Elinor S. WOOD, born 1805 in SC or North GA, married in 1823 in Newton county, GA and went to Forsyth, "a bride and groom". Folks back then didn't marry strangers. Usually the families had known each other a while. NOWHERE does my primary resource for what I know of this line - the Spencer B. KING book - say how long Benjamin KING's family was in TN. I have had it in my mind they were there until 1823, but of course they would not have been - how would Benjamin and Elinor have met, and why would they have married in GA if they lived in TN? And they married in Newton county, rather than Walton, where Elinor's brother, Cary (b. 1795), married a week later - apparently his bride was from there. That tells me that Elinor and Cary's parents were in Newton county, which was created in 1821 from Henry, Jasper and Walton. My guess is that Benjamin's family was also been in the area for a while - maybe a long while. Can anyone shed any light on either this WOOD family or the KING family? PLEASE??? Thanks!!!
