Pam, Britton & Dobbs was bought out by Vance Funeral Homes, which is still in business in Columbus and Phenix City. However, they do not have the old records. There is a lady who is a daughter of one partner and granddaughter of the other (BRITTON & DOBBS) who has all the old record books. She lives in Lannett, AL. Please email me, and I will provide you with her contact information. I believe she is willing to do look-ups, if they are not excessive, and earlier this year she met me at the public library in Valley, AL, so I could look through the books for several hours - a very nice person. She has told me she would be willing to let someone have access to the records to copy them so they can be transcribed/abstracted, and would even carry them to Columbus for this to be done, but I have not come across anyone who is able to take on the project. It should be done soon. When she gave me access to them, one of the books (from about 1904) was missing, and she didn't know what had become of it. The records go back to the 1890's. By the way, the abstraction of Britton & Dobbs funeral home records that is in the collection of the Bradley Memorial Library in Columbus does not cover all of the years, and the years that are covered do not include all of the information contained in the original records.
