This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Harvell, Harville, Harvill, Nix, Wall, Tooke, Bloodworth, Maloney, Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Xd.2ADE/1554 Message Board Post: I am trying to piece together the Harvells who were in Muscogee Co GA. I descend from Susan E. Harvell who was born 18 Sept 1833 in Upson Co, GA. She married Jesse Wall 22 Sept 1850 Muscogee Co GA (he was son of Jesse Wall and widow Sarah Tooke). Susan died 30 May 1911, Marion Co GA, buried at Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Possible sibling is: Ann Harvell, who was born ca 1829, GA, married Edward Nix, 7 July 1846, Muscogee Co GA. He was a moulder per census records. In 1850 census they were in Montgomery,AL and in 1860 in Mobile, AL. Children: Charles, William, Ela, Emma. Other possible sibling is Samuel B. Harvell, who was b ca 1825 in GA. He married Martha Ann S. Nix, 15 May 1845, Muscogee Co GA. Martha died 22 Nov 1862, Columbus GA and Samuel B. died 3 April 1861, Columbus GA. Samuel was a printer, as shwon in 1850 and 1860 census. Children: Andrew, John B., James W., Samuel B., Edward. Only Andrew and Edward survived as far and the 1860 census - what happened to the children after the deaths of the parents? BTW the Martha Nix and Edward Nix were brother and sister - children of Thomas and Edy Nix. There was Weston Harvill/Harvel in the area - famed for his slave sale fraud in the Columbus area. Muscogee Superior Court Case October and December 1838 he is called Western Harwell convicted of selling a free negro and the negro escaping, with Weston reselling him several times over. He was imprisoned from Jan 1839-Jan 1848 for simple larceny - pardoned 5 Oct 1847. He was a grocer, and was 5'11-1/2" tall, a grocer who was married to Martha "Nancy" Bloodworth in Jasper Co 11-21-1824. May have been the same person as Western Harwell who married Tempay Maloney 12-20-1863 in Columbus. Also in this court case was William Harwell who was sentenced for 6 years, and pardoned after 8 months. He was b ca 1814 - 5'9" tall. Land owned by Western Harvill was sold at public sale in 1838 to William Harvill. Same William Harvill was of Cobb Co GA when he sold land in 1847. Also in area was a Andrew Harvill who was vice president of Temperance Society organized 1 Aug 1829 in Columbus. Andrew is name of first child of Samuel B. And, finally there was a James Harvell who was in area in early 1840's. He sold a lot of land and a Confectionary on it to Mary Ann White in 1841 - then apparently married her in 1843 as a marriage agreement was recorded. He also sold the remains of the Steamboat Tallapoosa lying on the east bank of the Chattahoochee River opposite the city of Columbus to William McAlister in 1842. James is the name of the third son of Samuel B. Harvell. Are Samuel, Ann and Susan siblings? Is James a sibling of theirs? What about Andrew, is he their father? Thanks, Trish Elliott-Kashima
