My GGgrandfather, William Tyler Robinson, was an engineer on riverboats out of Columbus and kept a log book. From his notes I quote "Capt W. J. McAlister died in Charleston April 24 age 59 Buried in Columbus April 28 1875". I also have a clipping from a Columbus newspaper that either my GGGrandmother or my Grandmother saved.
