    1. [GAMUSCOGEE] Thomas E. Blanchard
    2. I am looking for any information on Thomas E. Blanchard Born 1840,died 1917, on a plantation in near Ellerslie, Georgia. His first Job was in J. W. Pease's Book Store. Mercer Blanchard is lised in his family. Mercer Blanchard Firsrt Lieutenant,CSA Co B, 37rh Georgia Reg. Mr. Thomas E. Blanchard was married to Sarah E. MacDougald. They had no children, they had an adpoted niece that died. Also in his family Dr. Joel Uriah McDuffie Blanchard, thr beloved " Dr. Mac." Blanchard., surgeon in the Congederae Army and physician to many in Columbus. I am not related to the Blanchards. I found a picture of Thomas E. Blanchard, he is the image of my son. In the Etta W, Blanchard Book there is a picture of Thomas E. Blanchard. It looks like my son posed for the picture.. The picture of Mr. Blanchard doesn't favor my son , he looks like my son. Hair , eyes, nose, mouth and face right on down to the little beard around his mouth. Mr. Blanchard has the same expression in his eyes as my son. Hie eyebrows and even the way my son wore his hair years ago. I would like to know if anyone has any other pictures of Thomas E. Blanchard so I could see if it's just this picture that looks like he and my son both sat for this picture. The pictures I have of my son is laughing or at least a smile. The picture of Mr. Blanchard is serious. Not only in the picture but in real life my son looks like this picture of Mr. Blanchard. It's an odd felling to look at a picture of a man born in 1840 and see your son. Thanks for any help. Sandra

    3. Hi all, This was from one of my email lists. I just ran across an interesting Website, "Courthouse Experiences" http://www.bcpl.net/~dmg/courthouse.htm Not every county is listed, but the ones listed gave helpful information regarding the attitudes of those working in the courthouses. I might suggest that if you have had a positive or negative courthouse experience you add them to this site. I now know how to prepare myself for several courthouses I want to visit later this year. 2. Don't know if this will help or not. But I found my great grandpapa in a book 1832-1932, obits in Columbus , Georgia. It gave me a date, I went and asked for the 1870 Columbus Enquire paper and his obit was listed. The article was picked up from the Mobile Register. He was State Rep. Joseph R. Waldrop 1868-1870. He was ambushed shot and killed.I had been looking for his obit for several and one night I found it in the Genealogy Room. He was killed August 13, 1870. Hope this helps and what you are looking for. Sandra

    1. [GAMUSCOGEE] Virus/delete the messages without opening
    2. Kemis Massey
    3. Hi all, from another list. . . If your email inbox is crowded with messages such as "Re: Thank You!" or "Your Details" or :Your Application" or even the tempting "Wicked screensaver," you're not alone. You've gotten stuck with a mass-mailing virus, called Sobig-F with the "F" tagging it as the current version of a virus that has run through versions A through E since January. Simply delete the email without opening the attachment, the Internet service providers say. The virus will fade from distribution after Sept. 10. Once opened, Sobig automatically launches an email server. It reads all the addresses in the user's email files and starts sending out infected mail. Please borrow, purchase, or whatever a good virus program. With that being said. . . This is a reminder that discussion of virus, worms, and other attacks of this nature are not to be discussed on this mailing list. There are lists for that purpose, and much more information can be gained from them. Our purpose and goal is to discuss genealogy and history, and how it all relates to our ancestors and their families. Please, lets keep it at that. 1. Re: [GAMUSCOGEE] Louie Lummus Home in Juniper, Ga.
    2. John Mallory Land
    3. Sandra, There is a write-up with photos on the LUMMUS property at Juniper - I may have posted material about it in the past. It's from DAVIDSON's "Rockaway in Talbot." The photos include at least one view of the lake. If you haven't seen this material, I will be glad to send the information to you. Unfortunately, I do not know if any of Juniper is still standing - I have wondered this myself. I believe my SIZEMORES were living in the vicinity when they first moved to the area (or perhaps there was a post office there that served the area?). My gg-gf James Marion SIZEMORE (b. 1836) was supposedly born at Juniper. Another thing that has puzzled me in the past is whether Juniper was in Talbot or Marion Co. (or both?). I seem to recall that it was near the county line. 2. John Mallory Land
    3. Carla, I wanted to thank you for posting this notice. I believe this is a child of William Daniel FUNDERBURKE (1856-ca. 1900) & his wife Eliza (PATE) FUNDERBURKE (1867-1933), who are both buried at the Box Springs Cemetery. I was not aware that they had resided in Columbus. I suppose the grave of George is now unmarked, as I have not seen a record of him, so I'm grateful that you made this extract available. (Eliza was the sister of my gg-gm, Caroline (PATE) SIZEMORE.) You are providing a great service - thanks! 1. Re: [GAMUSCOGEE] Vital Records
    2. John Mallory Land
    3. Patricia, It has always been my understanding that, in Georgia, a given county only provides copies of vital records that were created in that county. (I can't imagine being able to walk into the Chattahoochee Co. Probate Court and acquire a vital record from Bartow Co. or elsewhere.) However, this may have changed, or may not be the case in the larger counties - I suggest you contact someone with the Probate Court and inquire (these are for Muscogee Co.): Vital Records Office 100 Tenth Street Columbus, GA 31901-2617 (706) 653-4331 (Birth records:) Health Department 2100 Comer Avenue Columbus, GA 31904 (706)321-6300 I'd be interested to know what you're able to learn.
