In 1850 they were in Baker County, Ga. but were in Chattahoochee County when the split occured. Any help on their lines would be heaven sent. Thank you.

Surnames: McNeely Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Xd.2ADE/1354 Message Board Post: Does anyone have information about the maiden name, husband or children of Ellender McNeely, born in GA 1788, married @ 1803 in GA to UNKNOWN McNeely, died (probably) Anderson County, TX between 1860 and 1870. So far we have identified the following children for Ellender and her McNeely husband: James, born 1804/GA; Joseph, born 1805/GA; Issac C., born 1808/Georgia; Robert P., born 1811/GA; T.G. (probably Thomas Grier), born 1820/Al; Cornelius P. born 1821/AL. The family left Georgia for Alabama between 1815 and 1820 -- probably settling immediately in Perry County, AL. Ellender's McNeely husband died (probably in Perry County, AL) between 1825 and 1830. Ellender stayed in Alabama until the 1850s when she and all of her sons (except Cornelius??) moved to Texas. The sons moved from Alabama to Texas at different times, but from what we know, basically within the 1850-1860 decade: Joseph is in Texas (Henderson County) in 1850; T.G. is in Texas (with Ellender) by the late 1850s ! (Anderson County); James and Robert arrive at different times in the late 1850s in Texas (Smith County -- James having spent a few years in Pickens County, AL); and Issac C. arrives in the early 1860s (Henderson County) having spent a few years in Louisiana. If this family sounds familar to you, we would like to hear from you with any information that you have.

Martin The Ledger feels that the Chattahoochee circuit is to be congratulated upon the appointment by Governor Smith of Judge J.H. Martin to succeed Judge W.A. Little, resigned, to take effect on the 5th of October. Judge Martin is one of the ablest lawyers in the state, and is a man of fine judicial capacity. He is one who likes to work, and a man who is in love with his work is bound to be a success. Judge Martin, upon the death of Governor James M. Smith, in 1890, the latter being judge of the Chattahoochee circuit at the time of his death, was named by the state legislature to succeed him, and he filled the unexpired term with signal ability and satisfaction to all and with great credit to himself. Judge Martin makes quite a personal sacrifice in order to become judge of the superior court of this circuit. He is a lawyer of a large practice, and his annual income from his practice is several times greater than the salary he will receive as judge of the superior court. But in this instance it may be truthfully said that the Judge’s loss is the people’s gain. The Ledger believes that with Judge Martin on the bench, the position will be filled with entire satisfaction to all, and with great credit to the judge. – Columbus Ledger The Talbotton New Era Thursday, October 3, 1907 Page 7 J.H. Martin New Judge Chattahoochee Circuit Columbus, Ga., Oct. 1. – The appointment of a judge to succeed Judge W.A. Little, of the Chattahoochee circuit, has been made by Governor Hoke Smith, and, as generally anticipated, Judge J.H. Martin of this city, is the man who has been named. Judge Martin’s commission has not been issued yet, but he has been notified that he has been named by the governor. Judge Martin’s appointment will be effective October 6th, the time set by Judge Little for his resignation to take effect. Judge Little mailed his resignation to the governor last Monday, and it was anticipated that the appointment of his successor would be made as soon as Governor Smith returned to the capital from Sylvester, where he delivered a speech last Tuesday. It appears that the appointment was made soon after that time, but it was not made known to the public. Today it became known that the appointment has been made, and Judge Martin was asked if he had received notification, and he said that he has. The appointment of Judge Martin will give very general satisfaction to the people of the circuit. He is a lawyer of fine ability and of a distinctly judicial mind. He has had a good deal of experience on the bench, having served as judge of the Chattahoochee circuit for quite a while and he will again make an excellent judge. Judge Martin was born and reared in Talbot County, Ga., and lived on a farm in that county until he was 17 years of age. He moved to Talbotton, where he clerked in a store for several years, later engaging in the business of merchandising on his own hook, which he pursued for several years. Mr. Martin read law and was admitted to the bar in 1874. He practiced his profession with much success in Talbotton until 1890. In 1880 and 1881 he was elected representative in the legislature from Talbot County. He declined to stand for re-election and never afterwards sought a political office. Upon the death of Governor James M. Smith, in the year 1890, who was at the time of his death judge of the superior court of the Chattahoochee circuit, Mr. Martin was elected by the general assembly of Georgia to fill the unexpired term of Judge Smith. Upon the expiration of his term, January 1893, Judge Martin resumed the practice of law in Columbus, having moved from Talbotton to Columbus in 1891. Since that time Judge Martin has devoted his entire time to the practice of law, and he has enjoyed a very large practice in the counties of the Chattahoochee circuit, and has frequently been retained in the courts, both state and federal, in the other counties of this state, and in Alabama. It is true to say of Judge Martin that during this period he has been on either on one side or the other in nearly every big case that has been tried in any of the counties of the Chattahoochee circuit. Judge Martin is a very able lawyer, and a man of very fine judicial ability. As an evidence of the opinion of the lawyers of the bar in Columbus as to Judge Martin’s judicial qualifications, more than two-thirds of them signed the petition to Governor Smith asking his appointment to the judgeship to succeed Judge Little. They had no children, they had an adpoted niece that died. Also in his family Dr. Joel Uriah McDuffie Blanchard, thr beloved " Dr. Mac." Blanchard., surgeon in the Congederae Army and physician to many in Columbus. I am not related to the Blanchards. I found a picture of Thomas E. Blanchard, he is the image of my son. In the Etta W, Blanchard Book there is a picture of Thomas E. Blanchard. It looks like my son posed for the picture.. The picture of Mr. Blanchard doesn't favor my son , he looks like my son. Hair , eyes, nose, mouth and face right on down to the little beard around his mouth. Mr. Blanchard has the same expression in his eyes as my son. Hie eyebrows and even the way my son wore his hair years ago. I would like to know if anyone has any other pictures of Thomas E. Blanchard so I could see if it's just this picture that looks like he and my son both sat for this picture. The pictures I have of my son is laughing or at least a smile. The picture of Mr. Blanchard is serious. Not only in the picture but in real life my son looks like this picture of Mr. Blanchard. It's an odd felling to look at a picture of a man born in 1840 and see your son. Thanks for any help. With yours and other direction they all seem to lead back to the same place Jan and I visited last Sunday. The second paragraph I wrote was how in 1870 the moved to a new location in Box Springs and in 1904 built a new Church called Liberty Baptist Church and didn't use the word  Primitive. Then one person wrote me and said this  Church was in Genevia, Ga. not far from Box Springs. John, Thanks for your help. Sandra

Recorded by Morgan 6 Sept 1971. [Note that, where the Hut Road cuts off, a portion of the Macon Road called "Old Macon Road" deviates from the current course of Highway 22, so there may be an additional turn involved to stay on the Macon Road as it ran back in 1971 when these directions were written. - jml] The above is posted with a listing of burials at the cemetery. Note that the listing probably only includes graves marked at the time of the survey. The eight listed graves include the following surnames: HAGERMAN, JAMES, McNEEL, NICHOLSON, RENFROE, TURNER, and WEBB. Death dates for the graves listed span 1847 to 1899. The fact that not one of these surnames matches any on the list of member families in the write-up you quoted makes me wonder if this cemetery has been properly identified. 3. Pat, I believe Parthenopy is a given name, and evidently of Greek origin. I have encountered the name Parthenia in one of my families. This name is related to the Parthenon, a temple in Greece dedicated to Athena Parthenos - emphasizing the virginal aspect of Athena (as opposed to the warrior aspect of the goddess, as in Athena Nike, a.k.a "Winged Victory"). Parthenopy is likely derived from Parthenos. It doesn't seem terribly common. On one search engine, I found several sites mentioning a contemporary lawyer named Parthonpy A. BARDIS, who passed the bar in New York state. Did you contribute the data on the KIMBROUGH family posted on the Kudzu Families site?
