I'm getting ready to pass an item onto my granddaughter and need the given name of the father of the Sessions that married a Davenport in Columbus, GA. The Sessions father sold the item to my grandparents who gave it to me. Mr. Sessions worked at the Atlantic Ice House at Third Avenue and 29th Street. That is all I remember about him. 1. [GAMUSCOGEE] I would visit
    2. Over the river and thru the wood, To grandfather's house we go; The horse knows the way To carry the sleigh, Thru the white and drifted snow, oh! II would visit Rev. Green Berry Waldrop (1794-1854)who lived and ministered in Harris County during the years 1827-1840. He came to Georgia from Gwinette County, Georgia, during the 1827 Georgia Land Lottery. He was minister to the Bethle Baptist Church in Muscogee County, on Flat Rock from 1832 thru 1839 . He lived in Hamilton, Ga. and traveled back and forth during the December cold and windy days to minister and to serve as Prestbytery to the Columbus Baptist Assoc. I would to go back in time and see him walk thru the door of the former Church building that was where the Church stands now, built in 1850. I would love to meet a man who worked his land during the week and from Friday until Sunday night he was about God's work. I would be interested in the sermons he preached. He was Primitive Baptist, so I would think he was rather strick in his beliefs. I wonder how he approached sin in the 1820 & 1830s. I wonder what he would think about today , records, dancing and television. He's probably has rolled over in his grave many times. Sandra maiden name Waldrop Georgia

My mother and her sister’s thought they were the first in their family to move to Muscogee County. Then earlier this year I found another link. Then if I could come back at a different time I’d travel 5 miles east of Columbus (descriptions appropriate for the time) to visit my husbands family, John C. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Butt Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Xd.2ADE/843.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: You seem to have done a lot of work on the Butt family based in Norfolk, and might have some sources you could recommend. I have been able to trace my family back to Wilson Butt, who died in Norfolk, and had his will probated in the early summer of 1800. His father is purported to be a "Nathaniel", but this isn't certain. Wilson's son James (Blewel?) Butt was born in 1780. Any suggestions, please?
