From: Dee To: ALRUSSEL-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Sunday, May 16, 2004 5:34 PM Subject: [Russell Co., AL] Looking for researcher Hi I'm looking for a researcher in Lee County and Russell County. I don't need a researcher who will *put it all together* and put together a report, etc...I need someone who can simply go to the courthouses and search for all of a few surnames for me, make copies and mail those to me. No *fitting it together* involved...just copying and mailing.... Anyone in the area able to do this? I'm willing to pay for your expenses and time. Dee GnlgyNut@earthlink.net
Does anyone remember Joe Jones who sold Mobile Homes in the 1940s and 1950s? He was one of the oldest Mobile Homes Dealership in Georgia. One of my relatives was married to Janie Jones Baxter( Birmingham, Alabama) and in her obit was listed Joe Jones of Columbus, Georgia. Birmingham was listed also in the obit. Janie Jones Baxter was Post Mistress of Vinegar Bend, Alabama during the 1940s. Her husband Shep Baxter was killed in a Car accident in 1957 and she died several years later. Richard was my Great-Great grandfather. According to my grandfather, his middle name was Ebenezer, but we have not yet been able to confirm that. All census records indicate that Richard was born in Georgia, but again, we have no confirmation of that. Richard E., and his wife Elizabeth (no maiden name known at this time) are shown on the 1870 census in Cave Spring, Floyd County, Georgia, with Richard being 42 years old. Three of their children, Susan V (Susan Virginia), John B (John Blackstone) and William are also listed. Between the 1870 & 1880 censuses, Richard and his family migrated to Mississippi and by 1880 are listed in Scott County, Mississippi with an additional child, G.W. (George Washington) being shown as born in Tennessee. We also believe that Richard and Elizabeth are shown on the 1860 census in Chatahoochee County, but we have no verifiction that this is them. We also believe that Richard served with the CSA, and we are working to determine and confirm his service. Any information regarding Richard would be most appreciated. It is also probable that Richard was a member of a Primitive Baptist congregation, as his son and grandson were of that belief. Thanks in advance.

He fought with the 46th regiment as did William R Bedell, possibly a brother. In the late 1860s, Hezekiah came to Texas and taught school. He married Julia Ann Rebecca Edmiston and had three daughters before his death. My grandmother stated that he had a brother, John, who was killed during the War and a sister, Ann. I have seen from your web page that an Ann Bedell is buried in Linwood Cemetery. I have one other clue -- an "H Bedell" age 14 is enumerated with the William Lowther family of Russell County, Al on the 1860 census. I would great appreciate any help. Thank you.
