    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: AUTREY, AUTRY, PHILLIPS Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Xd.2ADE/1454 Message Board Post: Seeking information on Nancy Ann AUTREY, a white female aged 85, who died or was buried on 09 DEC 1926 near the Water Works in (now Columbus) Muscogee Co, GA. A record of this death is on file with the Columbus Health Department (Death Records, Vol. 3, 1916-38, record #3190). I am interested in learning more about Nancy and whether she is buried in the Clapp's Factory Cemetery. Note that the city water works facility, established in 1913 at Clapp Hill, took in part of the old Clapp's Factory mill village. She is perhaps Nancy AUTRY, age 38, b. GA, in the household of husband Andrew, a farmer, on p. 522B in the Nances Dist. of Muscogee Co, GA, 1880; they have nine children in their household. They could easily be Andrew J. AUTRY and Nancy Ann PHILLIPS, who m. 22 JAN 1858 in Harris Co, GA. Next door in 1880 is the family of William & Clara AUTRY, probably a brother to Andrew. An LDS record says William AUTRY m. ca. 1866 in Columbus, Muscogee Co, GA, to Clara PHILLIPS. I would appreciate any information on this family and their kin. I will be glad to share what information I have about Clapp's Factory.

    1. Dennis Family
    2. Does anyone remember the Harvey Dennis, Sr Family who lived in Columbus, Georgia? His son Harvey Dennis , Jr. lived in Phenix City, Alabama. There was a daughter name Barbara Dennis. Did anyone know Harvey Dennis, Sr's brother, that was drowned down on the River while fishing with friends? There was about four or five of them and , he wanted to change boats and when he tried to cross he fell. He couldn't swim and he drowned. My dad was one of the four or five men. Harvey Dennis, Sr. was a friend and neighbor of my dad's. This happen in the late forties or early fifties, maybe earlier.. I was so young when it happen , it seems like a dream to me, when daddy came home that night and laid his head on the kitchen table and cried. The Dennis brother was younger than the rest. I remember my family and the Dennis family talking about the accident. But all I can remember was my dad's crying and grieving for the young man. My dad dove in after him and pulled him up to the top of the water. Dad thought they were home free, but the young boy went back under and an undercurrent pulled him downward. Dad went back and the young man and reached out for the young man and they touched hands. The young man reached up and tighten his hand around dad's hand, into a death grip. the undercurrent was pulling on the young man ,dad's grip broke and the young man was gone. Dad grieved because he was so close but couldn't bring him in..A few months my dad had a massive heart attack. Mr. Harvey Dennis,Sr and my dad grieved for the longest. Dad was a good swimmer living around the Mobile Bay in Mobile Alabama. The other men knew if anyone could have bought the younger Dennis man in, it would have been my dad. My dad carried this guilt of not saving him. Our minister Rev. John Park Winkler of Central Christian Church , Columbus , talked to dad for years, but it was something dad couldn't let go of. Dad had seven heart attacks after the firs big one (Myocardial Infraction) I was wondering if any of the Dennis family was still living in the area that were related to the Dennis family. Thanks for any help. Sandra maiden name Waldrop Muscogee County, Alabama

    1. Harriet Bussey b. Muscogee Co GA ca. 1865??
    2. Franklin Ingram
    3. Pat, Wondering if your Bussey folks were related to my Ingram and Avera lines. My Ingram Ancestor, John Ingram, and his brother, Thomas Ingram, married Bussey sisters in or around Lincoln Co GA about 1800 give or take. The Bussey sisters were the daughters of Hezekiah Bussey. These Ingrams then moved to Putnam Co GA with their Bussey wives. Their descendants settled in and around Muscogee Co GA and over in AL. I know that there were some related Bussey descendants in Columbus who researched my line. I have a little of their research data, but they were deceased before I began my research. Surnames: JACKSON, PACE Classification: Death Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Xd.2ADE/1449 Message Board Post: “Death of Mrs. Lowe JACKSON “Yesterday morning at 9:15 o’clock Mrs. Lowe JACKSON breathed her last at the residence of her son, H. T. JACKSON, on Troup street [now Third Avenue], in the this city. Mrs. JACKSON had been an invalid for some time, and her death was not altogether unexpected. Her sufferings, and they were great, were borne with that strength and patience which emanates alone from the Christian heart. For a long number of years her’s [sic] has been a most exemplary life, and she died as she had lived—with a trust in the Savior. Few people ever die where Christian grace is more beautifully exemplified than it was in the death of Mrs. JACKSON. She was conscious to the last departing breath, and calling each of her children and her grand children to her dying bed-side she tenderly embraced them each, bidding farewell, and telling them that she was crossing the “shining shore” and was going to a place where there was no more sickness, nor sor! row, nor parting, nor death. All who witnessed the touching scene were deeply affected. A few years ago her husband left her with the parting words to meet him in the better land. Yesterday she fulfilled that mission. “Mrs. JACKSON was born in Warren county, Ga., January 8th, 1809. Her maiden name was Sarah PACE, and on January 29th, 1824, she was married to Lowe JACKSON. To them four sons were born—W. H. and H. T. JACKSON, of this city, being two of them. For a long number of years they lived at the Cataula house in Harris county; moved to Alabama; and subsequently to this city. In early life Mrs. JACKSON united with the Baptist church and at the time of her death was a member of the First Baptist church in this city. The writer, who has known her from his boyhood, knew her to be a woman of the highest Christian type, and while the bereaved children and grandchildren mourn her death, they feel that all is well, for she has passed through this dark valley and the shadow of death, and now enjoys that eternal rest prepared for the people of God.” The “Columbus (GA) Daily Enquirer-Sun,” Tuesday Morning, 21 JUN 1881. [Sarah PACE m. 29 JAN 1825 (sic) in Henry Co, GA, to Low JACKSON, per LDS IGI NA. I am not kin to this family. I came across this item while researching an unrelated matter.]
