Leslie, I wondered about who James J. was myself and wondered if the J did not stand for John in some form and that is why I included it plus the time frame would have been about right. It didn't hurt any that he married a Margaret. You might want to try posting to the Whitfield and Murray County lists and ask about Margaret Drennon. There were some large families around here with that last name and maybe you will run up on a researcher that can tell you who this James J. is.
