    3. If you understood sorrowfullness over prejudice or anything else construed as a grudge, then you are mistaken. Most of my ancestors were pioneers. They settled all over. I really can't find any of my ancestors coming in to this country after about 1720, but of course, I haven't found all of them, either. The fact is, I'm proud of my English ancestors who colonized Maryland and was worrying about how he, a major, was going to get supplies before they ran out in the French - Indian war. I'm proud of my Rev. War lines; including the combatants, the patriots and patriotress, and the chaplain. I'm proud of my Tories and NC Regulators. I'm proud of my Dutch VAN PELTs who were in New Amsterdam (later Long Island and Staten Island) in the early 1600s and the French LENOIR who was there 60 years later before 1700 and whose descendants have counties and towns named for them all over NC and TN. All of them did what they thought was best for them and theirs at any given moment. The thing is, nobody can judge what any one person is thinking by one statement that he / she makes. I heard no grudges voiced. Remorse at some things that happened that ideally shouldn't have happened? Yes.
