    1. [MURRAY] Wilson family of Murray County--ca. 1840-1870
    2. Wayne Wilson
    3. I'm looking for information the Wilson family, who lived in Murray County from roughly the mid- to late 1800s. Hello: I'd be most grateful even for suggestions on how to continue my search-especially about checking the 1864 Georgia Military Roster, on which my g-g-grandfather and perhaps a few of his children SHOULD have appeared. In any case, here's the information I have so far: Edward (Edd) Wilson, my great-great grandfather: He was born somewhere in North Carolina in 1827. According to his death certificate his father's name was William, and his mother's maiden name was Rowland, possibly Roland. Edward married Elizabeth Burlinson (or Burleson or Burlesson), who was born somewhere in South Carolina in 1828 of English and Irish parents. They were married--I don't know where or when--and raised a family in Murray County, Georgia. Here are their children (all, as far as I know, born in Murray County): Mary Rebecca, born October 1849 Nancy Jane, born June 1850 Susan Elmira, born February 1852 Alvira Elizabeth, born January 1854 William, born December 1856 Martha Lucinda, born February 1858 John W., born April 1859 George Edward (my great grandfather), born March 17th 1861; a hand-written note from my grandfather lists his birthplace as Dalton, Georgia Harriet E., born May 1864 Isaac L., born May 1867 According to family history, Edward fought for the South, then walked to Bell County, Texas, after the war to rejoin his family, whom he'd sent ahead. My grandfather told me that Edward was captured by the Union and spent the remainder of the war in a Union prison camp. So far we've been unable to find any record of his war service. >From old letters I've discovered that Edward apparently had at least one brother, George, a Baptist minister, who turned up in Bell County with his family after the war, lived there briefly, and moved to Kansas. Edward, his wife, and a number of other family members are buried in Moffat Cemetery in Moffat, Texas. I know, too, that some of Edward and Elizabeth's descendants were Boatwrights. As I said, I'd be very, very grateful for any information or suggestions anyone might care to offer. Thanks, Wayne Wilson
